Water Supply Interruption in New Cairo for System Upgrades

As part of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities’ plan to address water shortages in New Cairo, the city’s authority is implementing the second phase of upgrades to the water lifting stations and treatment plant. This includes connecting the system to the main water line, adding an extra 500,000 cubic meters of water daily from the Maadi intake to the New Cairo Water Treatment Plant.

During this critical phase, water will be cut off in the following areas:

  • Entire Eastern Extension
  • Rehab 2
  • Dar Misr Al-Qarnfol
  • Lotus
  • North and South Investors
  • Narges
  • City Center, Sectors 3 and 4
  • Gardenia
  • Industrial Zone
  • Andalus (Dar Misr, Sakan Misr, and Janna housing projects)

The water outage will begin at 7 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, and last until 7 PM on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

Eng. Abdelraouf El-Ghaity, Head of New Cairo City Authority, announced that the downtime will also be used to replace and upgrade valves in the affected areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, and for fresh water supply during the outage, they can call the hotline at 15100.

The authority apologizes for the inconvenience and assures residents that these upgrades will significantly improve water reliability for years to come.
