Engineer Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, welcomed a delegation from the French Embassy’s Economic Mission in Egypt, represented by Pascal Fort, Head of the Economic Mission, and Elise René, the Embassy’s Economic Attaché. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for mutual cooperation in capacity building and knowledge transfer, within the framework of Egyptian-French agreements. This collaboration includes an educational trip to France scheduled for October, as part of the directives from the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program under the Ministry of Finance.
During the meeting, Engineer Raslan presented the vision and objectives of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, highlighting Egypt’s experience in this vital sector. He emphasized the state’s significant commitment to the water and wastewater sector, noting that the coverage of drinking water services now exceeds 98% across Egypt’s governorates. Additionally, the wastewater sector has seen remarkable development and substantial increases in coverage rates in recent years, in line with the projects of the presidential “Hayah Karima” initiative aimed at developing Egypt’s rural villages.
Engineer Raslan underscored the importance of enhancing international partnerships and PPP projects, which are pivotal for developing Egypt’s water and wastewater infrastructure. He stressed that collaboration with international entities plays a crucial role in transferring advanced technologies and exchanging expertise, supporting the state’s vision for sustainability and improving citizens’ quality of life. Raslan expressed his eagerness to expand cooperation with France and specialized French companies, which contribute to achieving shared developmental goals.
The French delegation, represented by Pascal Fort, expressed their satisfaction with the constructive meeting, highlighting the importance of the Egypt-France partnership in the water and wastewater infrastructure sector. Fort stated, “We are proud and grateful for the close cooperation with the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater. This collaboration serves as a successful example of international partnerships aimed at achieving sustainable development.” He also extended an invitation to the Holding Company for a site visit to France in October, where they will meet with French entities and companies specializing in water and wastewater management.
