Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, chaired a steering committee meeting to review the progress of the Maspero Triangle Development Project. The meeting aimed to discuss ongoing activities, address challenges, and make decisions to accelerate project implementation. Officials from the ministry, the governorate, and the Urban Development Fund were also in attendance.
At the outset, Minister El-Sherbiny emphasized the ministry’s commitment to redeveloping unsafe areas in Cairo, in line with directives from the political leadership. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Cairo Governorate and the Urban Development Fund, includes the transformation of the Maspero Triangle area. Additionally, efforts are underway to revive Khedivial Cairo as part of a broader plan to restore the city’s historical, cultural, and urban significance.
Project Highlights
The development project features:
- A basement parking garage covering 19,220 square meters, accommodating 353 vehicles.
- A ground floor commercial area spanning 16,970 square meters.
- A first-floor parking area of 15,800 square meters with a capacity for 280 vehicles.
- Two residential towers with 936 alternative housing units for eligible residents, already allocated.
- A third residential tower with 134 units over 23 floors.
- A fourth administrative tower consisting of a basement, a ground-floor commercial area, and 15 additional floors.
Additionally, the Nile Maspero Towers project is underway, comprising three residential towers, each rising 30 floors and housing 774 residential units of varying sizes. A suspended structure, starting from the 26th floor, connects the three towers. The ground and first two floors feature commercial, administrative, and recreational facilities.
Dr. Saber expressed gratitude to the minister for his continuous support for the project and other developmental initiatives in Cairo. He reaffirmed the governorate’s commitment to collaboration and coordination with the Ministry of Housing to ensure successful implementation of various projects benefiting Cairo’s residents.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Nile-facing towers within the Maspero Triangle and discussed compensation alternatives for previous residents of the area. A timeline for completing all project activities was emphasized, alongside regular steering committee meetings to monitor progress and address any challenges
