Prime Minister Reviews Housing Ministry’s Progress and Developments

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting today with Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, to follow up on several key ministry projects. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abdelkhaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs.

At the start of the meeting, the Housing Minister presented proposed plans and designs for the development of areas surrounding the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, ahead of the museum’s much-anticipated global opening. The development aims to enhance the region’s appearance, reflecting its historical and cultural significance.

Eng. El-Sherbiny also addressed pollution issues near New Mansoura City, reporting that a company has been tasked with constructing a wastewater treatment plant for the Qalabsho Drain. This is part of immediate solutions to tackle the problem, ensuring a long-term resolution.

In addition, the minister discussed ongoing meetings with real estate marketing companies to monitor the progress of marketing strategies for housing units developed by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA). He emphasized the importance of swift and clear procedures with specific timelines to ensure effective marketing and financial returns.

The minister also covered efforts to resolve water supply issues in New Cairo. He outlined plans for the second phase of water pumping stations and a new water treatment plant, which will be connected to the main water supply line, adding 500,000 cubic meters per day. This will necessitate a water supply cut in parts of New Cairo from Saturday, September 14, to Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

Prime Minister Madbouly instructed the ministry to ensure clear communication with affected residents through various channels, including social media, and to provide ample water trucks during the interruption. The Housing Minister confirmed that announcements had already been made, and additional water trucks will be available, with contact numbers for assistance provided.
