Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the prime minister, chaired a meeting at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to review the proposed amendments to the Building Violations Reconciliation Law and discuss introducing additional facilitation measures.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Mahmoud Esmat, minister of electricity and renewable energy; Dr. Manal Awad, minister of local development and environment; Eng. Randa El Menshawy, minister of housing, utilities, and urban communities; Eng. Ahmed Omran, deputy minister of housing for utilities, Eng. Mostafa El Shimy, chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, and Major General Hisham Fouad of the General Department of Electricity Police.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the reconciliation process for building violations and addressing any challenges or issues that have emerged during the implementation of reconciliation procedures in accordance with Reconciliation Law No. 187 of 2023 and its executive regulations.
The Prime Minister explained that the government is currently reviewing and discussing a set of proposed amendments to the Building Violations Reconciliation Law to eliminate obstacles encountered during its implementation.
The amendments also aim to introduce further facilitation measures that will enable citizens to complete their reconciliation applications. He stressed that these amendments seek to achieve a better balance between enforcing the law and taking into account the social circumstances of citizens.
In the same context, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly directed officials to finalize the drafting of the proposed amendments to the Building Violations Reconciliation Law as quickly as possible and submit them to Parliament for approval. He noted that the amendments are intended to resolve the challenges facing the implementation process and ensure the completion of the reconciliation file.
He added that additional incentives and facilitation measures should be introduced to encourage citizens to complete reconciliation procedures, which would also accelerate the conversion of users of coded electricity meters to regular meters and resolve this issue for citizens with building violations.
