Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, prime minister, met today, Tuesday, at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with Engineer Khaled Abbas, chairman and managing director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, to review the executive status of operating a number of projects in the New Capital.
New Capital Project Marks a Major Transformation
At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that the New Capital project represents a major transformation in all its aspects, noting that the city was designed as a smart and sustainable urban center built according to international standards and serving as an administrative, cultural, and economic hub for Egypt.
He explained that the New Capital includes residential neighborhoods developed in various architectural styles, a wide range of administrative and entertainment services, and an environment capable of attracting both local and international investments.
He added that thousands of employees are currently working in the government district, alongside a growing number of visitors and residents in the city. He also noted that the monorail officially began operations a few days ago, providing a modern mass transit system that is witnessing strong public demand.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly further explained that directives have been issued to accelerate the operation of various projects and service facilities in the New Capital, including the City of Arts and Culture, the Olympic City, and the Green River, as well as multiple commercial outlets. He also stressed the importance of continuous maintenance for roads and buildings to safeguard the city’s investments.
Meanwhile, Engineer Khaled Abbas affirmed the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding and enhancing services in the New Capital, emphasizing efforts to improve operational and utility services. He explained that the company is focused on enhancing the quality of life for both residents and visitors while positioning the city as an integrated and leading model for sustainable smart cities.
He added that the New Capital offers advanced services that reflect sustainability principles, including the monorail project, which has now entered operation and represents a significant advancement in environmentally friendly transportation as a fast, modern, safe, and sustainable transit system.
The Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company also stated that, with the increasing number of residents across the city’s districts and the steady rise in visitor numbers, preparations are currently underway to operate various service buildings throughout the city. He added that procedures are also in progress to contract major operators for restaurants and cafés.
Engineer Khaled Abbas pointed out that the Green River is currently in its trial operation phase, noting that activities had already begun during Sham El-Nessim and Eid Al-Fitr, with trial operations set to continue during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday. He added that several restaurants and cafés overlooking the lake within the Green River area are also being prepared for operation.
Regarding maintenance works, Abbas reviewed several measures being implemented to ensure maintenance is carried out according to the highest standards at the City of Arts and Culture. He explained that the theaters have received internationally recognized “TÜV” safety certifications in inspection and accreditation.
He also noted that technical teams are currently undergoing training in operations and maintenance, alongside technical evaluations for operational requirements and equipment needed to ensure optimal performance, in addition to other forms of technical maintenance for the city’s facilities.
Engineer Khaled Abbas further stated that the City of Arts and Culture has hosted more than 120 visits by heads of state and internationally prominent figures. In the same context, he reviewed some of the city’s most notable events, including the “Nation of Peace – Live Forever in Peace” celebration held on October 25 last year to commemorate the glorious October victories, in addition to numerous entertainment concerts hosted by the city.
The chairman also highlighted the key promotional activities organized for the City of Arts and Culture, as well as the events, training programs, and concerts arranged by the company in this regard. Among the most notable is the concert by Andrea Bocelli, scheduled for May 26, which forms part of a series of major events aimed at promoting the city as an international cultural and artistic destination.
