Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the prime minister, accompanied by officials, inspected the Major General Omar Suleiman Axis Project, the western arc of the Alexandria Ring Road, as part of his tour of Alexandria Governorate today. He was received by Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and Major General Osama El-Genzory, Chairman of the Central Agency for Reconstruction.

The minister of housing, utilities, and urban communities affirmed that the Major General Omar Suleiman Axis is one of the country’s key strategic projects that will strengthen the road and main transportation networks.

The axis connects the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road with Alexandria International Airport, Borg El Arab City, and the Northwestern Coast, extending over a total length of 20 kilometers. The project is part of the state’s efforts to develop and upgrade road infrastructure while improving connectivity between major transportation corridors.

Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, also emphasized the continued coordination between the governorate and all relevant authorities to monitor the implementation of strategic projects aimed at improving the quality of services provided to residents and promoting sustainable development. He noted that these projects reflect the state’s strong commitment to Alexandria, given its position as one of Egypt’s most important economic and development hubs.

The Chairman of the Central Agency for Reconstruction stated that the project represents a vital traffic corridor designed to accommodate the growing traffic volumes between the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road and the International Coastal Road. It will help reduce traffic congestion along Borg El Arab Stadium Road, passing through Alexandria International Airport, while enhancing traffic flow throughout the area.

For his part, Major General Essam El-Ghorably, Chairman of the Central North Coast Reconstruction Authority, explained that the project includes the construction of a dual carriageway with six traffic lanes in each direction, in addition to a central median and side shoulders.

The project also features four flyover bridges, two bridges crossing the high-speed electric rail route, and five at-grade bridges over waterways. Furthermore, it includes covering the Palestine Drain for a distance of 2.3 kilometers, enhancing traffic efficiency while improving services and infrastructure throughout the area.
