Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and his accompanying officials inspected the M8 by the Lake project overlooking the Southern Lakes, as well as the project’s water renewal station, at the beginning of his tour of the Marina Tourism Center in New Alamein City.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the project, describing it as one of the region’s major developments that will add significant tourism and investment value to this promising area. He noted its distinctive location south of the Coastal Road, overlooking the Southern Lakes.
From a viewing point overlooking the lakes, the Prime Minister received a briefing on the project. Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, explained that M8 by the Lake is currently under construction and represents a modern model of integrated urban development.
She noted that the project is part of the state’s vision to maximize the value of land south of the Coastal Road by developing urban projects that combine tourism, recreation, and real estate investment. This approach aims to transform the area into a fully integrated tourism and urban destination, enhance its economic value, and create investment and leisure opportunities for both residents and visitors.
Eng. El-Menshawy added that the first phase of the project covers an area of 195 feddans and has reached approximately 95% completion, with preparations underway to implement the second phase. The next stage will further integrate the lakes with surrounding services and development projects.
During the inspection of M8 by the Lake, the Prime Minister visited a model villa within the project to assess the quality of construction. He also received a briefing from Eng. Ahmed Mostafa, Head of the Tourist Villages Authority, who explained that the project aims to establish a fully integrated urban and tourism community that meets the latest planning and construction standards.
The development includes approximately 1,183 residential units of various types, including villas and apartment buildings. He added that the residential units are supported by fully integrated utility networks and infrastructure, strengthening the area’s urban and tourism potential while ensuring the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
During the tour, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly also inspected the operation of the Southern Lakes Water Renewal Station, which transfers renewed water to the Northern Lakes. Eng. Ahmed Mostafa explained that the project is one of the most important strategic developments implemented to support the lake system and ensure its sustainability.
It serves as the main hydraulic link between the lakes located south of the Coastal Road and the Northern Lakes, ensuring continuous water circulation, improving water quality, and preventing stagnation in the Southern Lakes. This contributes positively to the aquatic environment, supports tourism and recreational activities in New Marina, and enhances the investment and aesthetic value of the Marina Alamein Tourism Center.
Eng. Ahmed Mostafa added that the water renewal station has a design capacity of approximately 280,000 cubic meters per day. The station relies on pumps and key components manufactured entirely from duplex stainless steel, which is highly resistant to salinity and corrosion, ensuring efficient operation in high-salinity environments.
The station renews the water of the Southern Lake within five to six days, providing continuous water circulation, improving water quality, maintaining ecological balance, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the lakes for various uses, thereby supporting the environmental and tourism value of the marina area.
