The Egyptian Cabinet announced on Monday an important decision regarding the old rent system in Egypt. The government has granted a three-month grace period before officially implementing the new rent increases, which will vary depending on the classification of each area.

In this context, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly issued a decision to extend the mandate of the committees responsible for surveying areas that include residential units rented for housing purposes. The extension will last an additional three months starting from November 15, 2025, in accordance with the Law Regulating the Relationship Between Landlord and Tenant.

According to Article 3 of the law, each governor is tasked with forming committees within their jurisdiction to carry out the survey process. These committees are responsible for dividing residential areas with rented units into three main categories:

  1. Distinguished areas

  2. Middle-income areas

  3. Economic areas
