Engineer Mahmoud Murad, Head of the New Obour City Authority, confirmed that—within the framework of implementing directives issued by Engineer Randa El-Mashanawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, concerning the protection of agricultural land and the firm confrontation of all forms of encroachment—the authority is continuing its intensified field campaigns to strengthen oversight over agricultural lands and prevent any activities established without meeting the required legal conditions.
The Ahmed Orabi Association area, specifically within the “Line 10” sector, witnessed a focused inspection campaign led by Engineer Mahmoud Murad, which resulted in the application of strict legal measures against several unlicensed establishments.
Campaign Enforces Closure and Sealing Measures for Operating Without Licenses
A statement from the city authority indicated that the campaign—carried out with the participation of the Development and Security Departments and in full coordination with the New Urban Communities Police and other relevant bodies—revealed major violations involving the use of agricultural land for activities that are not compatible with its designated agricultural purpose.
The head of New Obour City explained that the operation resulted in the immediate enforcement of seven closure and sealing decisions, including two livestock farms and five wedding halls. These facilities were found to be in breach of regulations, operating without the necessary licenses and legal approvals.
Official violation reports were issued against the offenders, and closure and sealing procedures were executed immediately without leniency, along with the removal of utility meters.
Ongoing Daily Monitoring to Prevent Encroachments
Engineer Mahmoud Murad stressed that the city authority continues to conduct daily inspection campaigns to monitor and remove all forms of encroachment, emphasizing that the protection of agricultural land remains a top priority in line with the state’s strategy to safeguard agricultural resources and eliminate informal and illegal violations.
Authority Head Urges Compliance with Regulations
He further called on all citizens and landowners to fully comply with building regulations and land-use laws and to avoid carrying out any activities or developments without obtaining official permits. He reaffirmed that preserving agricultural assets is a shared national responsibility that supports sustainable development and protects the rights of future generations.
