Engineer Mohamed El-Ezzouni, Head of the New Minya City Development Authority, stated that—based on the directives of Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities—continuous monitoring of public cleanliness systems in new cities is being prioritized, alongside the intensification of cleaning and beautification works to support sustainable urban development.
He added that this comes within the framework of providing a healthy and safe environment for citizens, as the city authorities continue executing their daily plans to improve service quality for residents.
In this regard, Engineer Mohamed El-Ezzouni instructed the Development Department and the Cleaning and Beautification Sector to strengthen field supervision over cleaning companies operating across the city. This aims to ensure consistent operations and raise cleanliness standards across various residential and service zones.
Comprehensive Plan to Regularly Cover All City Districts
Field inspections included the prompt and continuous emptying of waste containers, along with intensified cleaning efforts on main roads, secondary streets, and public squares. These measures contribute to environmental protection and enhance the overall urban appearance of the city.
The Head of the Authority explained that cleaning operations covered several key districts and locations in New Minya City, including the First District, Third District, Youth Square in the Fourth District, the Carnation District in the Extension Area, the British School area in Al Zahraa, Dar Misr and Janna Misr housing projects, the Urban Expansion Area, the main arterial road, the surroundings of the Civil Defense building and Banque Misr in the Sixth District, as well as areas near Deraya University in the Seventh District.
These efforts form part of a comprehensive plan designed to ensure all districts are regularly and continuously serviced. Engineer Mohamed El-Ezzouni further emphasized that the authority continues implementing daily cleaning campaigns under an integrated operational plan that guarantees ongoing coverage of all residential and service areas.
Waste is removed promptly, and garbage containers are emptied throughout the day to maintain the highest levels of public cleanliness and preserve the city’s urban image. He also stressed the importance of maximizing the efforts of cleaning companies, increasing field operations, and responding swiftly to any waste accumulation.
He noted that maintaining the cleanliness of the city is a shared responsibility that contributes to improving quality of life and ensuring a healthy and safe environment for residents while also reinforcing the modern and civilized image of New Minya City as one of Egypt’s rapidly developing new urban communities.
