Engineer Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud, head of the New Damietta City Development Authority, announced the implementation of 23 closure and sealing decisions targeting violating shops operating without licenses in the commercial markets of the First District.

The campaign also involved removing encroachments on official building setback lines in violation of the law, in addition to disconnecting utilities from the offending establishments.

Ongoing Campaigns in New Damietta to Combat Unlicensed Commercial Activities

The Head of the New Damietta City Authority stated that the enforcement actions were carried out through the permanent committee responsible for implementing removal, encroachment, and occupancy violation decisions, in coordination with the Construction Police Department and the New Damietta Electricity Department.

These measures come in line with the directives of Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, stressing the importance of firmly addressing all violations and encroachments in new cities while safeguarding urban organization and the city’s aesthetic appearance.

Engineer Ashraf Fathy explained that the campaigns focused on shops operating commercial and professional activities within units or locations not legally designated for such purposes, without securing the necessary permits and approvals from the relevant authorities, which constitutes a direct violation of applicable laws and regulations.

Sealing Violating Shops and Cutting Off Utilities in New Damietta

Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud emphasized that the city authority will not permit any violating activity to resume unless its legal status is regularized and the required procedures are completed in coordination with the concerned departments of the authority.

He affirmed that all violations are being addressed firmly and without tolerance in order to maintain public order and preserve the civilized image of New Damietta City.

The Head of the New Damietta Authority also noted that intensive periodic inspection campaigns will continue to monitor and eliminate all forms of violations and illegal occupancies, while preventing the spread of random and unregulated activities throughout the city.

These efforts aim to provide citizens with a safe, organized, and civilized environment while ensuring the highest standards of quality across the city’s services and facilities.
