Authorities in Egypt’s new urban communities have launched coordinated campaigns to remove building violations, encroachments, and informal activities, following directives from the Ministry of Housing to preserve urban planning and public order.
The campaigns targeted several cities, including New October, 6th of October, New Cairo, El Shorouk, New Minya, and Badr, focusing on illegal construction, misuse of residential units, and obstructions affecting roads and public utilities.
In New Minya, inspection teams detected and removed 22 illegal water connections across the crafts district and commercial areas, with legal action taken against violators. In New October, authorities cleared a major informal waste-sorting site in the 800-Feddan area using heavy equipment.
New Cairo witnessed intensive enforcement across its First, Third, and Fifth Settlements. Authorities demolished illegal construction in Gardenia and removed unauthorized basement storage. Campaigns also cleared street obstructions in commercial zones, particularly around the Yasmeen Mall area, with confiscations and legal procedures underway.
In El Shorouk, a large-scale operation removed encroachments in key market areas, restoring pedestrian access. In 6th of October City, officials addressed illegal conversions of residential units into commercial use, shutting down non-compliant shops and removing unauthorized extensions.
Additional campaigns across October City targeted widespread violations, restoring order and enforcing regulations. In Badr City, intensified operations—including nighttime campaigns—removed obstructions in the Zelzal area and sealed four violating properties in the Distinguished District, with utilities disconnected and legal action taken.
Authorities confirmed that these campaigns will continue to ensure compliance and maintain the urban appearance of Egypt’s new cities.
