New Cairo City Authority Implements Fines to Combat Roadside Waste Dumping

The New Cairo City Authority announced a new initiative aimed at preserving the city’s roads and main thoroughfares. A fine of EGP 4,000 will be imposed on individuals caught dumping waste on public roads or major highways. Additionally, vehicles used for illegal dumping will be confiscated, and those without license plates will be impounded for six months. Confiscated vehicles will also be utilized to transport waste to designated disposal sites, in accordance with applicable regulations.

In a statement, the authority emphasized the formation of dedicated teams and patrols—both stationary and mobile—to enforce the new measures and eradicate the issue. The initiative is being carried out in collaboration with various security agencies to ensure effective implementation and oversight.
