New Announcement for Middle-Income Citizens Regarding Housing Units

Mai Abdel Hamid, the CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, has clarified that the Fund’s Monitoring and Follow-Up Unit has identified a series of widely circulated social media posts containing false information about the Fund’s announcements and projects. Addressing these inaccuracies is crucial to prevent citizens from being deceived or exploited by spreading these rumors.

Abdel Hamid pointed out that some social media users falsely claim that the results of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians 5” will be announced during the first week of February 2025. They have also shared various methods for checking results, such as SMS or online inquiries.

The CEO emphasized that these claims are inaccurate. The Fund began reviewing documents submitted by applicants for housing units on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Whenever the review process is completed, applicants will be notified of their application results by SMS sent to the phone number they provided when uploading their documents to the official website.

Official Channels for Accurate Information

Abdel Hamid urged citizens to rely on the Fund’s official channels and the “Housing for All Egyptians 5” brochure for accurate information. The booklet on page 43 outlines the steps citizens must follow to secure their housing units.

Among these steps is the notification process for rejected applicants (those who do not meet the advertisement criteria). After the appeal period ends, they will be informed to withdraw their payments via the postal system within 14 days of the notification date. Similarly, applicants who could not secure a unit due to prioritization issues will be notified to withdraw their payments within 30 days if they had previously made a down payment during the booking period but could not reserve a unit.

On page 9, the brochure also details the mechanisms citizens should follow to check their application status and manage it during different stages. These include contacting the Fund’s official Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/shmffeg, visiting the Fund’s website at www.shmff.gov.eg, or submitting complaints and suggestions via https://cservices.shmff.gov.eg/SHAKWA. Additionally, applicants can call the customer service hotline numbers 5999, 5777, or 1188 from a mobile phone or 090071117 from a landline. Alternatively, they can visit any customer service center at city authorities or housing directorates.

Requests such as file expedites, document updates, data corrections, and others (e.g., transferring bookings to heirs or adjusting unit levels for medical reasons) can also be submitted through the Citizens Service Center at https://cservices.shmff.gov.eg/.

Addressing Rumors About a New Announcement

Abdel Hamid also addressed reports circulating on social media about a new announcement targeting middle-income citizens. These posts claim to outline income limits, interest rates, and cities included in the upcoming announcement, attempting to create an illusion of accuracy and reliability.

The CEO affirmed that these claims are entirely false. The Fund is still studying the details, conditions, and locations for a new offering for middle-income citizens, including 13,000 housing units. This has been previously stated in official press releases on the Fund’s verified social media pages.

She added that the Fund will take all necessary legal actions against those spreading rumors and false news, primarily as such actions aim to exploit citizens’ interest in the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians.” Citizens are urged to rely solely on official sources, such as the Fund’s website and verified social media pages, for accurate information.
