The Cabinet reviewed today the document of the National Strategy for Sustainable Green Construction and Urban Development, which is set to be launched soon. The strategy was developed through a scientific and participatory methodology and is based on five main pillars: integration with national strategies such as climate change, sustainable energy, and Egypt Vision 2030; alignment with sustainable development goals in areas like cities, clean energy, and climate action; analysis of the local context; a participatory approach involving relevant stakeholders; and reviewing advanced international experiences.
The strategy aims to make green urbanism the prevailing model by 2030 through improving energy and water efficiency, enhancing renewable energy use, reducing carbon emissions, and developing resources.

It also seeks to boost green financing through innovative tools and incentives to expand sustainable real estate investments, while developing cities capable of withstanding climate change and natural disasters, alongside promoting spatial justice.
The goals also include stimulating innovation in green building technologies to achieve regional and international competitiveness, and transforming the green real estate sector into a major source of national income by promoting the Egyptian urban product.
The strategy includes financial and regulatory incentives to support developers and enhance competitiveness, drawing on global best practices. It also outlines a roadmap with implementation phases to ensure the achievement of the set objectives.
