The Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities has announced the selection of Engineer Tarek El-Gammal, Chairman of Redcon Group and Redcon Properties, as a member of the Egyptian Council for Green Building and Sustainable Cities. This decision aligns with the government’s strategy to strengthen partnerships with the private sector in developing sustainable urban development policies.
The council’s mission is to oversee the implementation of Egypt’s Green Building and Sustainable Cities Strategy, in addition to formulating policies and recommendations aimed at promoting the concepts of smart construction and sustainability. These efforts are designed to support Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the country’s broader goals for sustainable and inclusive development.
The appointment of Engineer Tarek El-Gammal reflects the government’s confidence in the private sector’s contributions and expertise in supporting urban development strategies. It also highlights the state’s commitment to involving leading companies early in shaping national development policies.

Redcon Group is among Egypt’s pioneers in adopting the green building concept since 2008, having integrated sustainability principles into its project design and execution processes. The company applies standards such as energy efficiency, resource management, and carbon footprint reduction, positioning it as one of the foremost supporters of sustainable urban transformation in Egypt.
For his part, Engineer Tarek El-Gammal expressed his pride in being selected as a member of the Egyptian Council for Green Building and Sustainable Cities, describing this step as a recognition of long-standing efforts in the fields of sustainability and smart construction. He emphasized that the council will play a pivotal role in reviewing policies and setting standards to ensure the application of green building principles across both national and private projects. He also stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to achieve a balance between economic growth and environmental preservation.
The decision to appoint El-Gammal to the council reaffirms the state’s direction toward engaging leading private companies in shaping policies for the transition to more efficient and sustainable cities.
