Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum, and Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, met to discuss enhancing cooperation between their ministries. The focus was on accelerating the implementation of natural gas connection projects for social housing and new cities and meeting the petroleum product needs of urban development projects. The two ministers emphasized the importance of continuous coordination to maximize resource utilization, highlighting previous fruitful meetings that will further strengthen their collaboration.
The meeting addressed ways to expand cooperation in developing natural gas infrastructure networks in the western part of New Alamein City and social housing projects in Hadayek Al-Asimah, which will serve 30,000 residential units. These efforts align with the Ministry of Petroleum’s strategy to expand natural gas distribution to citizens in coordination with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the New Urban Communities Authority. The plan to supply bitumen (asphalt) to meet the Ministry of Housing’s road paving project requirements was also discussed.
It was agreed that working meetings and field visits should be organized for officials from both ministries to follow up on the implementation of joint projects. The meeting was attended by several officials from both ministries, including the CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, the Executive Managing Director of EGAS, and several deputies and sector heads from the Ministry of Housing.
