Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, received officials from the German company BAMAG, one of the world’s leading firms specializing in the design, construction, and operation of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for joint cooperation and benefiting from advanced German expertise and technologies in implementing utilities sector projects. Engineer Randa El Menshawy emphasized that the Ministry of Housing places great importance on developing the drinking water and wastewater system, considering it one of the key pillars for achieving sustainable development.
She noted that the Egyptian state is implementing an ambitious program to expand utilities projects while relying on locally manufactured products alongside the latest systems and technologies that enhance operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
The Minister added that the ministry welcomes cooperation with internationally experienced companies, stressing the importance of technology transfer, localizing industry, and strengthening national capabilities.
During the meeting, officials reviewed BAMAG’s expertise in designing, constructing, and operating drinking water plants as well as industrial and municipal wastewater treatment facilities.
They also highlighted the company’s projects in Egypt, including the drinking water plant in 10th of Ramadan City, efforts to upgrade existing plants, and opportunities for cooperation on several future projects across the country.
For their part, the German company officials expressed their appreciation for the significant progress witnessed in Egypt’s utilities sector, affirming their interest in expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Housing and participating in new infrastructure projects in the drinking water and wastewater sector.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination to explore areas of mutual cooperation and opportunities for implementing drinking water and wastewater projects in line with the Egyptian state’s vision for comprehensive development.
