Engineer Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted an extensive tour of East Cairo’s cities, including 10th of Ramadan, Hadayek El Asher, Obour, and New Obour. The aim of the visit was to follow up on ongoing projects in housing, roads, utilities, and public services, and to directly assess the progress of work on-site.
The minister began his tour with a meeting that included the heads and officials of the mentioned city authorities, in the presence of senior leaders from the ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority. During the meeting, they reviewed ongoing work files, discussed current projects under implementation, and examined future development plans. El Sherbiny noted that this visit comes as part of the second phase of the ministry’s on-ground follow-up plan.
He emphasized the importance of continuous development, maintenance, and upgrading efforts, in addition to monitoring cleanliness and enhancing the urban appearance of cities. He stressed the need for maintenance officials to remain present on-site after project completion to ensure quality and to restore any affected areas immediately after maintenance works.

As part of efforts to enhance infrastructure in new cities, the minister directed officials to improve the efficiency of city gates, signage systems, and main squares, as well as to make optimal use of vacant lands and firmly address construction violations and encroachments.
He also reviewed the progress of road and main axis projects in 10th of Ramadan City, including Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Axis, Ali Ibn Abi Talib Axis, and various city entrances. Additionally, he discussed neighborhood development plans and projects for creating pedestrian promenades and service facilities within industrial areas.
During his field tour, the minister inspected several main roads and city entrances, stressing the need to create designated parking areas in densely populated zones. He also highlighted the importance of regular waste removal, continuous maintenance of green spaces and median strips, and reassessment of allocated lands to ensure maximum utilization and public benefit.
The tour also included reviewing public utilities in Obour City, such as GIS system projects aimed at improving service efficiency and the city’s preparations for the winter season through maintenance of stations and rainwater drainage networks. The minister also discussed the city’s financial status and available investment opportunities, instructing officials to intensify work in industrial zones and control random encroachments.
At the end of his visit, the minister met with a group of citizens in various cities to listen to their demands and suggestions. He affirmed that these requests would be carefully studied and addressed to enhance public services and meet residents’ needs. El Sherbiny emphasized that direct communication with citizens is a cornerstone of the ministry’s on-ground work philosophy.
