This afternoon, Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), to discuss the status of the drinking water and wastewater systems in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister, Dr. Mohamed Hassan, CEO of the Water and Wastewater Regulatory Authority, Eng. Amin Ghoneim, Vice President of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development, and officials from ACUD.
The Minister highlighted the ongoing construction of the first phase of the New Administrative Capital’s water treatment plant, with a capacity of 400,000 cubic meters per day. The plant’s total capacity will eventually reach 1.5 million cubic meters per day, making it one of the largest in the country. In addition, water intake points, transmission lines for raw water, and pumping stations are being implemented. The first phase of the wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of 250,000 cubic meters per day, is also under construction.
During the meeting, El-Sherbiny and Abbas discussed the management and operation of the water and wastewater systems in the New Administrative Capital. The systems are designed to be smart and sustainable, focusing on water conservation, minimizing losses, and maximizing the use of every drop. The treated water will be reused for irrigating green spaces, following established regulations.
