Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting to follow up on the implementation status of drinking water and sanitation projects within the presidential initiative “Decent Life” (Hayah Karima) in the governorates of Fayoum and Minya. The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry, the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater, the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage (NOPWASD), and representatives of the implementing companies.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister emphasized that the main objective of the session was to review the progress of ongoing projects in Fayoum and Minya and to address any obstacles that may hinder implementation. He reiterated the importance of adhering strictly to the established timelines for completing these vital projects.
The meeting discussed the projects implemented by the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater in Fayoum under the “Decent Life” initiative. The discussions included updates on the expansion works at the Al-Ezab Water Treatment Plant and the renovation of the old Qahafa Water Treatment Plant.

Regarding Minya Governorate, progress was reviewed on the South Mallawi Water Treatment Plant. The minister instructed that weekly progress reports be prepared for all these projects to ensure continuous follow-up.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation status of projects supervised by the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage as part of the first phase of the initiative. The discussions covered several sanitation projects in villages within the Itsa Center in Fayoum, in addition to wastewater treatment plants and other sanitation projects in the village of Al-Moshtarak Qebly, located in the Youssef El-Seddik Center. In Minya, the meeting addressed the progress of sanitation projects in the villages of Mallawi and Al-Adwa centers, as well as treatment plants in Maghagha, Deir Mawas, and Abu Qurqas.
Concluding the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of regular follow-up on all works and the preparation of periodic reports that detail the progress of the “Decent Life” projects in Fayoum and Minya. He also underlined the necessity of overcoming any emerging challenges to ensure the timely completion of these projects within the designated timeframe.
