Eng. Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the progress of several development projects and improvement works, alongside efforts to preserve urban order and address building violations and unauthorized occupations in 6th of October City.
In this context, the Minister received a report outlining the latest developments in the implementation of the Engineer Alaa Abdel Aziz axis (Boulevard Road) Project, which connects the Dahshur Link Road with the Middle Ring Road. The report noted that road construction and utility infrastructure works are progressing, with directives to accelerate implementation rates to ensure the project’s timely completion.
The Minister also reviewed the ongoing development works in the Green Belt Area, including utility infrastructure projects, sewage pumping stations, and road construction. She stressed the importance of accelerating execution, enhancing the efficiency of major roads and transportation corridors in the area, and adhering to the highest quality standards, given the area’s significance as one of the city’s promising residential and investment zones.
The report further stated that the 6th of October City Development Authority carried out intensive inspection campaigns to detect and remove building violations, unauthorized occupations, and encroachments across various sectors of the city, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Immediate action was taken against several violations, including the demolition of illegal rooftop rooms constructed on two plots in the Northern Expansions Extension, while the necessary legal measures were taken against the violators. The campaigns also covered multiple sectors of the city and resulted in the removal of waste-sorting sites, unauthorized occupations, and unlicensed activities.
Authorities confiscated several vehicles, carts, and equipment used to occupy public roads or carry out illegal activities. Among the actions taken was the removal of 15 illegal waste-sorting sites within the industrial zone, in coordination with the relevant authorities and in accordance with legal procedures.
The inspection campaigns extended to several major roads and vital areas across the city, including Gamal Abdel Nasser Axis, Janna, the Tourist Walkway, the Boulevard, the First, Second, and Third Tourism Areas, as well as the Southern, Northern, and Western Sectors, in addition to the Industrial Zone. Unauthorized occupations and encroachments obstructing traffic or negatively affecting the city’s urban appearance were removed.
As part of efforts to strengthen the city’s sanitation system, the report also reviewed updates on improving the efficiency of waste management operations and ensuring the readiness of equipment allocated to serve different areas.
Equipment lineups were conducted to support various districts, including the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Industrial Zones, while emphasizing the preparation of periodic performance reports to monitor operational efficiency and ensure the continuity of cleaning services and service quality improvements.
In this regard, Eng. Randa El Menshawy stressed the importance of continuing field inspection campaigns to combat building violations, unauthorized occupations, and informal activities, while enforcing the law decisively and without tolerance toward any practices that undermine the city’s urban appearance or obstruct residents’ movement.
The Minister affirmed that preserving the urban character of new cities, enhancing infrastructure efficiency, and improving service quality remain key priorities within the development strategy for Egypt’s new urban communities.
She also emphasized the continuation of field monitoring and the immediate handling of any violations in support of the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable urban development and improve the quality of life in new cities.
