Minister of Housing Reviews Progress of “Housing for All Egyptians” Initiative

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a detailed periodic meeting on Tuesday evening to evaluate the implementation status of residential units under the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians.” The initiative, which aims to provide affordable housing to citizens across Egypt, is being executed in multiple locations, including New Beni Suef, New Sohag, New Alamein, New Rashid, New October, and Port Said Governorate. Additionally, the meeting included updates on the Sawari project, situated west of Carrefour in Alexandria. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Housing, the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Support Fund, and the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA).

The session began with Minister El-Sherbiny reviewing the status of tendering and construction of housing units, particularly those planned for delivery within three years under the announcement of “Housing for All Egyptians 5.” He emphasized the necessity of adhering strictly to the set timelines for these projects and stressed the importance of selecting top-tier construction companies to ensure timely and high-quality completion. The minister reassured stakeholders that he would personally oversee the progress through ongoing periodic follow-ups.

During the meeting, detailed reports were presented based on field visits conducted by members of the minister’s technical office. These visits assessed the on-ground status of construction work for the initiative’s residential units across various new cities and governorates. The reports highlighted achievements, challenges, and areas requiring immediate intervention.

Minister El-Sherbiny called for accelerating construction rates to meet the program’s ambitious goals. He directed officials to maintain rigorous adherence to the established project timelines while ensuring the highest standards of quality in the construction process. Companies failing to meet expectations would face exclusion from future phases of the initiative. To mitigate delays and enhance efficiency, he instructed that the work be distributed among reliable and committed contractors to expedite the delivery of units to eligible citizens.

The meeting underscored the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that this initiative benefits its intended recipients—providing high-quality housing to all Egyptians while supporting the nation’s broader urban development objectives. The minister reiterated that the housing units must be delivered within the specified deadlines and reflect the highest construction standards, affirming the government’s focus on citizens’ welfare and the overall improvement of Egypt’s urban landscape.

This initiative represents a significant step towards reducing the housing gap in Egypt and addressing the growing demand for affordable homes, particularly in underserved regions. By focusing on efficient project management and strategic planning, the Ministry of Housing aims to provide sustainable urban solutions that align with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for comprehensive development.

Minister El-Sherbiny’s approach reflects a proactive stance in enhancing accountability, ensuring transparency, and optimizing resources in the execution of large-scale housing projects. Such efforts reinforce the government’s dedication to uplifting living standards for millions of Egyptians and advancing the country’s urban infrastructure.

The “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative is a cornerstone of Egypt’s national housing strategy, demonstrating a commitment to delivering safe, affordable, and high-quality residential options for citizens from all walks of life. With ongoing monitoring and strategic adjustments, the ministry aims to continue achieving tangible results in this pivotal sector.
