Engineer Randa El Minshawy, minister of housing, utilities, and urban communities, reviewed the implementation status of a number of ongoing drinking water and sanitation projects, foremost among them those being carried out under the Presidential Initiative “Decent Life” (Hayah Karima), as well as projects included in the investment plan implemented by the National Authority for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage (NAPWASD) across seven governorates: Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Ismailia, Port Said, and Damietta.
The review aimed to accelerate implementation rates, address any obstacles, and improve the quality of services provided to citizens. In this context, the minister received a report on the results of field inspection tours conducted by officials of the authority.
Engineer Nageh Abdel Rahman, Deputy Head of the Central Administration for Upper North Egypt Projects (Minya–Assiut), accompanied by several Authority officials, inspected projects under the Presidential “Decent Life” initiative in Minya Governorate.
The tour included the Tuna El-Gabal wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of 20,000/30,000 cubic meters per day, serving 12 villages in Mallawi Center, in addition to the El-Baragil wastewater pumping station and the Qasr Hor pumping station.
The inspections also covered the Sharona wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of 10,000/15,000 cubic meters per day, serving seven villages in Maghagha Center, as well as the Sharona main pumping station, the Sharona sub-pumping station, and the Geziret Sharona pumping station.
In Assiut Governorate, officials inspected several projects under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative, including the Dashlout wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of 20,000/30,000 cubic meters per day, serving 14 villages in Dayrout Center. The tour also included a review of the status of booster pumping stations in the areas of Dashlout, Awaga, Beni Adi, and El-Sahreej in the Dayrout and Manfalut districts.
In Qena Governorate, Engineer Youssef Helmy Youssef, Head of the Central Administration for South Upper Egypt Projects at the Authority, accompanied by several officials, inspected projects included in the investment plan.
These included the integrated sanitation project in Khazam Village, covering pumping stations and the treatment plant, as well as sanitation projects in the villages of El-Hamr, El-Gaafra, Samta Bahary, Faw Qebly, Faw Gharb, and El-Attiyat.
The inspections also covered completed projects in Deshna Center, where the Abu Manaa Bahary and Abu Manaa East pumping stations have entered service. Officials also reviewed the status of newly established network projects in the cities of Deshna and Abu Tesht, the Deshna wastewater treatment plant, and the social housing sanitation project in El-Waqf City.
The follow-up further included sanitation projects under the Presidential “Decent Life” initiative serving the villages of El-Habilat, El-Zarayeb, El-Amiriya, El-Maharza, and Quseir Bakhans while coordinating the swift operation of completed projects.
In Sohag Governorate, Engineer Ahmed Hassan Ibrahim, Head of the Executive Agency for Drinking Water and Sanitation Projects affiliated with the Authority in the governorate, inspected sanitation projects in the villages of Awlad Ismail and Banawit in El-Maragha Center under the Presidential “Decent Life” initiative to review implementation progress and ensure the timely completion of works.
The inspection tours also included visits by Engineer Essam Abdel Hamid, Head of the Central Administration for East Delta Projects at the Authority, to investment plan projects in Ismailia Governorate. These included the expansion of the Abu Atwa wastewater pumping station and its transmission line, as well as the expansion of the Fayed wastewater treatment plant, with a capacity of 35,000 cubic meters per day.
The tours further covered authority projects under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative in Port Said Governorate, where officials inspected the West Port Said desalination plant, with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per day, in addition to the expansion of the El-Kab wastewater treatment plant.
In Damietta Governorate, the inspections included three wastewater treatment plants: Kafr Suleiman El-Bahary, with a capacity of 5,000/10,000 cubic meters per day, Om El-Rizq, with a capacity of 5,000/10,000 cubic meters per day, and Kafour El-Ghab, with a capacity of 5,000/10,000 cubic meters per day.
Engineer Randa El Minshawy affirmed that field follow-up of all projects will continue, with a focus on promptly resolving any obstacles and adhering to implementation schedules in preparation for bringing projects into operation. She stressed that these efforts aim to maximize benefits for citizens, support the state’s strategy to develop drinking water and sanitation services, and improve the quality of life for citizens.
