Engineer Randa El Menshawy affirmed that the new cities in Upper Egypt receive significant attention within the state’s comprehensive urban development strategy, as they represent one of the key pillars for achieving development, accommodating population growth, and creating new opportunities for investment and employment.
The Minister of Housing added that the ministry continues to implement plans to upgrade infrastructure, public services, and various quality-of-life components across the new cities of Upper Egypt, enhancing their attractiveness to both residents and investors while supporting the state’s vision of building modern, sustainable cities that provide an integrated living environment worthy of Egyptian citizens.
The minister stressed the need to intensify field inspection tours by ministry officials and heads of city development authorities to monitor the implementation of housing, road, utility, development, landscaping, and beautification projects while ensuring the swift removal of any obstacles that may hinder progress, thereby guaranteeing adherence to scheduled timelines and achieving the highest implementation rates.
The minister received a report on the outcomes of field visits conducted by ministry officials and the heads of several new city development authorities in Upper Egypt. In New Aswan City, Engineer Ammar Mandour, Vice Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and Construction, accompanied by Engineer Mostafa Saeed Ahmed, Head of the New Aswan City Development Authority, inspected a number of ongoing housing and development projects across the city.
The tour included follow-up inspections of the Housing for All Egyptians project, the Green Housing project, the Economic Housing project, and the Riverside Tourist Promenade project to assess actual implementation rates, review construction quality, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and approved timelines.
During the visit, officials emphasized the need to accelerate work across all project sites while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency, alongside daily monitoring of implementation progress and addressing any challenges facing the projects.
This will ensure timely completion according to the approved schedules, particularly the fifth phase of the housing buildings, while meeting the designated delivery dates in line with the state’s objective of establishing modern and sustainable urban communities.
The report also highlighted the inspection tour conducted by Engineer Yasser Abdullah Ramadan, Head of the New Qena City Development Authority, across several sites and residential neighborhoods to monitor implementation progress and evaluate the level of services provided to residents.
The tour included the “Hazelnut Model” residential buildings area, where officials reviewed restoration works following the completion of natural gas networks, internet infrastructure, and modern telecommunications networks. The inspection also covered the preparation of connecting pathways between residential buildings, as well as general cleaning and routine maintenance work within the social housing area.
The city authority head also inspected the ongoing works at the city’s southern entrance in the Second District and along the “Long Live Egypt” Axis, where development and infrastructure upgrades include site landscaping, installation of concrete curbs and interlock paving, pedestrian pathway planning, and the implementation of a comprehensive landscaping and tree-planting system through the planting of palm trees and the preparation of central medians for expanded green spaces.
In addition, asphalt paving works are being carried out in accordance with the highest engineering standards to provide a safe and attractive urban environment for residents. These works coincide with the final preparations for the opening of the Regional Bus Terminal Complex in the Second District, one of the city’s key service projects aimed at improving the transportation system in New Qena City.
The report also covered the inspection tour conducted by Engineer Ali Saad, Head of the New Fayoum City Development Authority, along with city authority officials, to monitor asphalt paving works and road development projects at the city’s entrances and residential districts. These projects include the main road linking the city’s entrance on the West Assiut Road with the square opposite the city authority headquarters.
The ongoing works include rehabilitating asphalt layers, improving the surrounding landscape, removing deteriorated sidewalks and reconstructing them, redesigning traffic squares and turning loops, and reinforcing rainwater drainage chambers to increase their capacity, particularly in low-lying areas, thereby enhancing the efficiency and long-term sustainability of the city’s road network.
The report also reviewed the efforts of the New Assiut City Development Authority in implementing a comprehensive plan for landscaping, development, and upgrading roads and public squares throughout the city. The regional area has witnessed intensive planting and landscaping works through the addition of large numbers of shade trees as part of a plan aimed at expanding green spaces and improving the urban environment, in addition to planting Poinciana trees.
In the same context, the authority continued upgrading the city’s entrance from the Technology Zone side, while also developing public squares to improve both traffic flow and the city’s visual appearance. Landscaping and tree-planting works are also underway around the National University and the entrance to the Security Directorate, alongside road development projects in the regional area, including asphalt paving, road maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades.
The report further addressed the inspection tour conducted by Engineer Mohamed El Ezzouni, Head of the New Minya City Development Authority, in the Carnation District, where he reviewed road development works and assessed the area’s readiness for the commencement of scheduled projects.
The visit included inspections of internal roads and the main access routes leading to the district in preparation for handing over project sites to the executing contractor to complete road paving and sidewalk construction.
Officials from the New Minya City Development Authority also inspected several locations to monitor ongoing landscaping works and implementation progress, while reviewing development and beautification plans aimed at improving the urban environment and enhancing the green spaces along the city’s main roads and public squares.
