Engineer Randa El-Menshawy: We are continuing to implement a comprehensive plan to enhance infrastructure and develop roads and main axes in new cities, contributing to a better quality of life for citizens.
Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has conducted follow-ups on the ongoing works to upgrade and develop roads, green spaces, and water and sewage networks in several areas, including tourist villages and the cities of El Shorouk, New Minya, 10th of Ramadan, 6th of October, and Obour.
These efforts fall within a broader plan to improve the quality of services provided to residents in new urban communities. The minister reaffirmed that the ministry is pressing ahead with a comprehensive strategy to upgrade infrastructure and develop roads and vital corridors across new cities in a way that enhances citizens’ quality of life.
She clarified that these development efforts go beyond technical improvements to also include enhancing the urban landscape and making optimal use of available resources. She further stressed the importance of adhering to the highest quality standards during implementation, increasing on-site monitoring, and ensuring prompt responses to citizens’ complaints, in line with the state’s direction to deliver modern, sustainable services that meet citizens’ expectations.
In addition, the minister reviewed the progress of development works at the entrance of Marina (5) and the main road leading to it. Engineer Ahmed Mostafa, Head of the Tourist Villages Authority, explained that the project aims to improve traffic flow and upgrade the area’s visual appeal.
The work includes establishing designated pedestrian walkways, landscaping through planting trees, flowers, and palm trees along both sides of the road, reorganizing and rehabilitating traffic lanes, and developing the surrounding commercial market area. The minister also followed up on road upgrading, landscaping, and cleanliness efforts in the 70-meter housing building area in El Shorouk City.
Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Zakaria, Head of the City Authority, noted that regular maintenance is being carried out for green areas and trees, with immediate repairs of any damage, alongside efforts to enhance the general appearance and upgrade green spaces. He added that all observations related to sidewalks and asphalt works are being addressed without delay.
In New Minya City, Engineer Mohamed El-Azouni, Head of the City Authority, carried out an inspection tour to monitor sidewalk upgrading works along several main roads. The focus was placed on strict adherence to quality standards, maintaining green areas, conducting periodic maintenance, and upgrading road lighting networks to improve illumination and increase safety levels.
In 6th of October City, Engineer Nader Zafar, Head of the City Authority, conducted an inspection tour in the eastern sector, which included the distinguished district, the traffic management building, and the central nursery. He inspected Abdel Moneim Riyad Road and Raya Street to oversee the implementation of irrigation networks using treated water, as well as the subsequent road development works.
He also reviewed progress on restoring roads to their original condition, renewing structural layers, constructing sidewalks, expanding traffic lanes, upgrading lighting systems, and carrying out road markings and speed bump painting, all aimed at improving service levels for residents.
Meanwhile, Engineer Alaa Abdel-Lah Mostafa, Head of the 10th of Ramadan City Development Authority, accompanied by officials, inspected several industrial zones, including A1, A2, and A3, to follow up on development work.
These include upgrading water and sewage networks, leveling roads and sidewalks, ensuring the immediate removal of construction debris, and increasing workforce capacity to accelerate project completion. Furthermore, progress has been monitored in road paving and upgrading projects across several districts and key routes in Obour City.
Engineer Tamer Gabr, Head of the City Authority, stated that the works involve completing asphalt layers on Engineer Mashhour Ahmed Mashhour Street, starting asphalt works on Ali Hassan Street in the Fifth District, and continuing paving operations on Street 112 in the northern extension of the First Industrial Zone. This is in addition to fully paving the road in front of the EgyptAir residential buildings in the Second District.
