Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with officials from INCOM to review the status of handovers at the Central Business District (CBD) in the New Administrative Capital and the implementation of the Downtown Towers project in New Alamein City, which is being carried out by the Chinese company CSCEC, in the presence of ministry officials and consultants for both projects.
At the beginning of the meeting, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy stressed the importance of implementing safety and civil protection requirements to safeguard the substantial investments made in the project and ensure its long-term operational sustainability.
She emphasized the need to adhere to the highest international standards for operation and maintenance across the Central Business District, in line with the signed protocols and agreements governing these activities.
The minister of housing added that the Central Business District represents one of Egypt’s most prominent urban development projects and reflects the unprecedented urban transformation taking place across the New Republic. She highlighted the importance of early preparation for the operation and management phase in accordance with global best practices to maximize the value of the project’s real estate and investment assets.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the details of the Central Business District in the New Administrative Capital, which includes a group of mixed-use towers. The development features 10 towers designated for administrative, office, commercial, and service activities, with a total built-up area of approximately 806,000 square meters and heights ranging from 80 to 175 meters.
It also includes five fully finished residential towers comprising approximately 1,700 housing units with a total built-up area of 102,000 square meters and heights ranging between 152 and 200 meters. In addition, the district includes the Crescent Towers, consisting of four interconnected towers that accommodate hotel, commercial, entertainment, and service activities, reaching a height of 64 meters.
The meeting also reviewed the status of the Iconic Tower, the landmark of the Central Business District and the tallest building in Africa, standing at nearly 400 meters. The tower accommodates a variety of hotel, commercial, and administrative uses.
The Iconic Tower includes one of the world’s leading international hotels, in addition to hotel suites, administrative units, and an integrated commercial zone offering a wide range of business, leisure, retail, and hospitality services. It also features 40 floors of multi-purpose office spaces, 10 floors of serviced apartments comprising 52 units, and 30 hotel floors containing 183 guest rooms, with a total built-up area of approximately 266,000 square meters.
During the meeting, the Minister of Housing emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring of project handovers and operational readiness, along with full coordination among all relevant entities to ensure the timely completion of all required procedures according to the approved schedules, thereby maximizing the project’s economic and investment returns.
Engineer Randa El-Menshawy also reviewed the implementation progress of the Downtown Towers project in New Alamein City, which includes the construction of five fully finished and serviced residential towers.
The project features an iconic tower standing 250 meters tall and consisting of 68 floors, with a total built-up area of 465,000 square meters, in addition to four other towers, each rising 200 meters with 56 floors and a combined built-up area of 320,000 square meters.
The minister of housing stressed the importance of adhering to the approved implementation schedules for all project phases, noting that the Downtown Towers project represents a significant addition to New Alamein City and strengthens its position as a global urban, tourism, and investment destination on the Mediterranean coast.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy directed all parties to accelerate performance rates to ensure the smooth progress of work and the achievement of implementation targets in accordance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency, while maintaining regular follow-up on implementation progress and achievement rates on the ground.
