Engineer Randa El Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the efforts of several new city authorities in carrying out campaigns to remove encroachments, violations, and random illegal activities. The campaigns covered 6th of October City and Hadayek October City, as well as the First and Third Sectors of the North West Coast.
Minister Randa El Menshawy emphasized that preserving the urban and architectural character of the new cities is one of the ministry’s top priorities. She stressed that field monitoring and inspection campaigns will continue to ensure the immediate handling of any violations and that legal action will be taken against offenders.
The minister added that city authorities are working according to an integrated plan based on continuous monitoring and coordination with the relevant agencies to ensure the swift removal of violations at an early stage. This approach aims to protect the state’s investments in urban development projects, maintain public order, and enhance the quality of life for residents in the new cities.
As part of these efforts, the 6th of October City Development Authority carried out a large-scale campaign to remove violations and encroachments in the First District. The campaign resulted in the implementation of 10 demolition and removal decisions along the road separating Neighborhoods 3, 4, 5, and 6.
It also included the removal of violations involving the illegal conversion of residential units into commercial activities, with the necessary legal measures taken against the violators. Engineer Nader Zafaar, Head of the 6th of October City Development Authority, stated that an intensive evening campaign was also conducted in the northern sector to remove road encroachments and restore public order and the city’s visual appearance.
The campaign led to the confiscation of several violating vehicles and equipment used in illegal occupations; the removal of obstacles affecting vehicle and pedestrian movement; and the reopening of streets and major roads to the public, particularly around Gamal Abdel Nasser Axis, the 60 Buildings Area, and several other locations.
In Hadayek October City, Engineer Yasser Abdel Halim, Head of the City Development Authority, explained that intensive campaigns were carried out in several areas in coordination with the relevant authorities. The campaigns resulted in the seizure of violating vehicles and the detection of three cases involving the illegal conversion of residential units into commercial activities, with legal action taken against those responsible.
He added that the campaigns also included the removal of illegal land occupations in the Nakheel (1) area in Dahshur, as well as the immediate removal of several building violations in the Hadayek Al Yasmeen – Fourth District (“Build Your Home”) area.
The work included removing illegal rear setback walls, dismantling unauthorized wooden formwork, halting demolition work carried out without permits, and stopping construction activities that violated planning and regulatory requirements on several land plots.
Meanwhile, the Third Sector Development Authority on the northwest coast continued its campaigns to remove encroachments and illegal occupations on lands under its jurisdiction. Engineer Ayman Abdel Tawab, Head of the Authority, stated that a campaign in the Al Abyad Qibli area of Marsa Matrouh resulted in the implementation of 13 removal decisions targeting illegal buildings and structures.
Engineer Ahmed Hassan Qassem, Head of the First Sector Development Authority on the North West Coast, also announced the implementation of another campaign that resulted in the removal of eight cases of encroachments and violations on state-owned land under the authority’s jurisdiction.
