Minister of Housing Reviews Development and Performance in Urban Development Sector

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held an extensive meeting with Engineer Amin Ghoneim, Vice President of the New Urban Communities Authority for the Development Sector, and other sector officials to review the progress and performance in the sector. During the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of enhancing the sector’s role in urban development and improving its performance in the coming period.

Minister El-Sherbiny stressed the need to intensify the work of the various sector committees to monitor the implementation of housing, service, and infrastructure projects, including water and sewage facilities in new cities. He also directed the establishment of clear standards for operations, maintenance, and cleanliness, with the selection of top-tier companies to ensure the highest level of service for citizens. Swift and proactive measures to address challenges were also highlighted.

The minister outlined the importance of evolving work mechanisms within the sector to accelerate procedures and improve project completion rates. He called for a strategic vision with specific goals in the fields of infrastructure, housing, and services, and urged the effective use of subcommittees in new cities to expedite various tasks. El-Sherbiny also emphasized the optimal use of human resources, assets, and equipment to maintain the urban character and visual identity of new cities.

He concluded the meeting by promising full support to the sector’s staff, focusing on achieving the highest possible returns and stressing the importance of teamwork in serving the nation and its citizens.

During the meeting, Engineer Amin Ghoneim presented the efforts of the Urban Development Sector in monitoring performance in new cities and evaluating the work of companies involved in operations and maintenance. He also discussed plans to address stalled projects and optimize them for maximum benefit, in line with the Minister’s directives on managing current and future water and sewage needs in new urban areas.
