Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, hosted at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital Mr. Ibrahim Al-Hawaj, Minister of Works of Bahrain, along with the Bahraini Ambassador to Cairo and the accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to explore ways to strengthen future cooperation between Egypt and Bahrain in the field of urban development, in the presence of several officials from the Ministry of Housing and the New Urban Communities Authority.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini expressed his pleasure at holding this meeting, stressing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s keenness to consolidate ties with brotherly Arab countries in all fields. He also highlighted the deep fraternal bonds between Egypt and Bahrain.
During the meeting, discussions covered potential areas of cooperation between the two countries in housing, urban communities, infrastructure, and utilities. The Egyptian experience and achievements of the ministry were reviewed, including the new city projects such as the New Administrative Capital and New Alamein City.

Success stories from the past decade in the housing sector were also highlighted, where the number of completed housing units exceeded one million. In addition, the presidential initiative “Decent Life” was discussed, which aims to develop villages in rural Egypt, along with plans to localize Egyptian industry to meet development needs across various sectors.
El-Sherbini emphasized that these achievements were made possible by strong political will, pointing to the urban expansion that Egypt has witnessed. He noted that the proportion of urbanized land areas increased from 7% to 14% by 2024 and is expected to reach 18% by 2030.
For his part, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Hawaj expressed his delight at visiting Egypt and meeting the Egyptian Minister of Housing. He praised Egypt’s distinguished experience in housing and new city development, expressing particular admiration for the New Administrative Capital, which he described as an integrated city. He also conveyed his eagerness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both ministers agreed to continue regular coordination between the two sides and to hold workshops involving specialists from both countries with the aim of enhancing cooperation in urban development, utilities, and infrastructure.
