Minister of Housing Participates in the Meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction in Cairo

Under the directives of Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, a delegation from the Housing and Utilities Sector at the Ministry of Housing participated in the 71st session of the Technical Scientific Advisory Committee of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo from October 19 to 21.

The Egyptian delegation included Eng. Nafisa Hashem, Advisor to the Minister and Supervisor of the Housing and Utilities Sector, and Eng. Mostafa Al-Naggar, Head of the Sector, in addition to Eng. Jihad Hesham and Ms. Hebatallah Gamal, who serve as communication coordinators between the Ministry and the General Secretariat.

During its sessions, the committee discussed 25 agenda items covering significant topics such as the Arab Housing Conference, the celebration of Arab Housing Day, and the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing Award.

The meeting also reviewed updates related to the Council’s official website and the procedures for establishing a comprehensive database and information system to support the Council’s objectives. Furthermore, discussions included the Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development, as well as ways to enhance Arab cooperation with regional and international organizations in the fields of housing and reconstruction.

Eng. Nafisa Hashem delivered a presentation highlighting Egypt’s efforts in following up on the work of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction, particularly Egypt’s preparations to host the Ninth Arab Housing Conference scheduled for December 2026 in Cairo, under the theme “Towards Smart and Sustainable Urban Communities Facing Contemporary Challenges.” She confirmed that the preliminary draft of the conference agenda has been distributed to Arab countries for comments and suggestions.

Eng. Nafisa also referred to an Egyptian study addressing the experiences of Arab countries in the field of social housing. She expressed her appreciation for the contributions of member states and announced that the final version of the study will be officially presented during the 43rd session of the Council, to be held in Cairo.

At the conclusion of its proceedings, the committee will prepare a comprehensive report summarizing its recommendations and proposals on the discussed topics, to be submitted tomorrow (Wednesday) during the meeting of the Council’s Executive Bureau.
