Minister of Housing Oversees Road and Public Transport Projects in New Cities

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, monitored the progress of road and public transport projects in several new cities, including 10th of Ramadan, New Cairo, Al Obour, New Damietta, New Sphinx, New Akhmim, New Beni Suef, and Badr. The minister emphasized the importance of enhancing road infrastructure and public transportation systems in collaboration with relevant authorities to improve service quality and attract more investments to these cities.

Engineer Alaa Abdel-Lah Mostafa, Head of the 10th of Ramadan City Development Authority, highlighted the ongoing paving work and asphalt application on the Club Road, part of a comprehensive plan to improve roads and facilitate traffic in the city. These efforts aim to enhance safety and comfort for both residents and visitors, alongside maintaining street cleanliness and removing waste accumulations.

In New Cairo, Engineer Abdel Raouf El-Ghaiti, Head of the City Authority, supervised the road and sidewalk upgrades in West Golf Extension and Gardenia District in the Third Settlement. The work in Gardenia 2 is 90% complete, with asphalt work reaching over 75%. El-Ghaiti stressed the importance of adhering to technical specifications to deliver top-quality services.

Engineer Ahmed Rashad, Head of the Al Obour City Development Authority, announced the launch of a new public transport line in cooperation with the “Distinguished Public Transport Company” to serve key areas such as the recreational zone, Dar Misr housing project, Benha International University, and the industrial zones. This initiative aims to reduce reliance on unlicensed transportation and improve the internal transit system to better serve the city’s residents.

In New Damietta, Dr. Engineer Mohamed Khalafallah, Head of the City Authority, inspected the expansion of the road leading to Damietta Port, using interlocking tiles to withstand the heavy truck traffic. This is in line with the development of the “Tahya Misr” station, which will further enhance the port’s infrastructure.

In New Sphinx, Engineer Ahmed Ibrahim Anwar, Head of the City Authority, followed up on the Sphinx Axis Project and the water pipeline in the Solimaneya area, emphasizing the need to accelerate progress to meet the project deadlines.

In New Beni Suef, Engineer Ahmed Abdel Gaber supervised the final surface layer of the roads and oversaw landscaping efforts in public areas. Meanwhile, in New Akhmim, Engineer Mostafa Harb confirmed that the asphalt layers on several roads are 65% complete.

In Badr, Engineer Mohamed Abdel Aziz Amer announced an update to the transportation fares in coordination with the local governorates. Specialized teams were assigned to ensure drivers adhere to the new routes and fares, ensuring smooth transport within the city.

These ongoing initiatives are part of the Ministry of Housing’s broader plan to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life in new cities, making them more attractive for both investors and residents.
