Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting yesterday evening to follow up on the progress of projects being implemented by the Ministry under the Presidential Initiative “Decent Life,” which aims to develop rural areas in Egypt. The meeting was attended by ministry officials, the Central Agency for Reconstruction, the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, and the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation.

The meeting began with Eng. El-Sherbiny emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring of various projects, including water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure projects, as part of the “Decent Life” initiative. He also stressed the need to address any issues or obstacles that may hinder their implementation.

The meeting reviewed the execution status of water and sanitation projects in several governorates, including their completion rates, timelines, and progress. In this context, the Minister directed the preparation of a comprehensive inventory of all projects, indicating which ones have been completed and which are still under construction in each governorate, along with their respective needs and progress rates.

Additionally, the Minister was briefed on the progress of 3,631 developmental projects in 25 centers across 10 governorates, covering 741 villages and their surrounding areas. These projects, which are being carried out by the Central Agency for Reconstruction, include the construction of service and agricultural complexes, the upgrading and development of youth centers, bridges over watercourses, healthcare facilities, ambulance points, social solidarity service facilities, as well as electricity, street lighting, and roadworks.

In conclusion, Eng. El-Sherbiny emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of the “Decent Life” initiative projects and ensure regular and continuous monitoring to ensure their timely completion with the highest quality standards.
