Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, inspected the progress of the Telal Al-Fustat Gardens project in Old Cairo, located near the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Ain El-Sira Lake, and the Religious Complex. The tour included the investment zone and the Arena project covering an area of 131,000 square meters, which comprises restaurants, malls, parking facilities, and celebration venues such as the Roman theater and water fountain, in addition to the adventure zone that features service buildings and lakes.
The Minister also followed up on the markets area, designed as a commercial hub with a total area of 60,000 square meters to support tourism and handicrafts. This area consists of retail shops, parking lots, an artificial lake, landscaped greenery, and a three-star hotel. The project is being implemented in three phases. The Minister emphasized the need to accelerate construction, remove waste, increase workforce capacity, and complete the utility works.
In addition, the Minister visited the hills and valley zone, which includes three hills connected by a water corridor and offering views of surrounding landmarks such as the Citadel of Salah El-Din and the Pyramids. These areas include “Qasaba Hill”, featuring tourism and service facilities such as a hotel, parking lots, an artificial lake, and seating areas; “Excavation Hill”, which aims to uncover and restore the remains of the historic city of Fustat as a prominent archaeological and tourist destination; and “Heritage Gardens Hill”, offering visitor spaces, restaurants, and stunning views overlooking the lake.
The Minister stressed the importance of monitoring development plans to ensure the delivery of facilities that comprehensively cover both tourism and entertainment aspects.
