Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted an inspection tour to follow up on the latest developments of the Telal Al-Fustat Gardens Project located in the Old Cairo district of Cairo Governorate.
The project is strategically situated near the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Ain Al-Sira Lake, the Religious Complex, and Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque. The Minister was accompanied by the Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction and senior officials from the Ministry of Housing.
The visit began with a review of the final finishing works at the project’s main entry and exit gates, where the Minister stressed the importance of accelerating the completion of all remaining works as quickly as possible. He then proceeded to inspect the progress of the project’s main components, which include the investment zone and the Arena Project — spanning an area of 131,000 square meters overlooking Ain Al-Hayat Lake.
This area comprises 12 restaurants, 4 shopping centers, and 4 parking facilities, in addition to a large celebration area featuring a Roman theater, dancing fountain, and extensive landscaping works. The tour also covered the adventure zone, which includes service facilities, lakes, and green areas, where special attention was given to the maintenance of greenery, irrigation systems, and installation of guiding signboards.

The Minister’s tour also included visits to the Hills Zone, the Heritage Zone, and the River Zone. The Telal Project is divided into three hills of varying elevations, separated by a central water stream. Each hill offers breathtaking views of the surrounding project and nearby historical landmarks such as Salah El-Din Citadel and the Pyramids of Giza.
The inspection covered Qasaba Hill, which extends over 13,000 square meters and includes a tourist hotel, service buildings, car parks, an artificial lake, terraced seating areas overlooking a waterfall, along with a pedestrian bridge and a cafeteria.
The tour also included a follow-up on Excavation Hill, which is designated to become a comprehensive archaeological and cultural destination through the excavation and display of the remains of the ancient city of Fustat across an area of 47 feddans.
A 1-kilometer elevated walkway is being constructed around the excavation site to link service buildings with the heritage zone, creating a distinctive tourist attraction. On another front, the Minister inspected Heritage Gardens Hill, which includes terraced areas, visitor facilities, restaurants, and wooden pergolas overlooking the lake.
Additionally, the Minister reviewed progress at the Commercial Market Zone, which covers 60,000 square meters. This area aims to revitalize tourism and support the local economy by showcasing traditional and handcrafted industries, such as glassmaking, ceramics, candle making, spinning, and weaving. The market area is being implemented in three phases, featuring 19 commercial shops, car parking, an artificial lake, green spaces, and a three-star hotel.
