Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, paid a visit to the Al-Zaytouna area to follow up on the progress of the “Great Transfiguration” development project in the city of Saint Catherine in Sinai. He was accompanied by officials from the ministry and the Central Agency for Reconstruction.
During his tour, the Minister inspected a tertiary wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 600 cubic meters per day. He directed the acceleration of work related to the site’s fence, landscaping, and testing operations at the plant. He also reviewed the reception building in Al-Zaytouna, checking the timeline for its completion and the site landscaping works within the residential project, including the planting of green areas and the irrigation network. The Minister stressed the importance of completing all remaining work as quickly as possible, especially the landscaping and green spaces.
The Minister also inspected the church building within the project, where he listened to details on the construction status and extended his greetings to all those contributing to the ongoing work.
The Al-Zaytouna area is set to include the development of a new residential district comprising housing units and service facilities designed to accommodate the expected rise in tourist numbers following the city’s development. The project features 21 hotel complexes with a total of 546 fully finished hotel-style residential units, ranging in size from 100 m² to 230 m², with above-average and luxury finishes. It will also include integrated services such as a mosque, a church, and retail stores.
