Minister of Housing Inspects Key Projects in Saint Catherine
Today, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, inspected the development and flood protection project for the Saint Catherine Airport Road, from “Nabi Saleh Checkpoint,” spanning 9 kilometers. The Minister was accompanied by Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister, Dr. Enas Samir, Deputy Governor of South Sinai, and General Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction.
During the visit, Minister El-Sherbini monitored the project’s progress, ensuring adherence to the scheduled timelines for the various phases of construction. He received a detailed briefing on the roadworks, industrial installations, flood protection measures, and the implementation of lighting and signage along the route.
The Minister emphasized the importance of incorporating environmentally appropriate lighting for the area, in line with its architectural character.
In addition, he inspected the progress of the Saint Catherine electricity substation, which will power the “Great Transfiguration” project currently under development in the city. He also reviewed the ongoing expansion of the Nuweiba substation, which will supply Saint Catherine, and the construction of the overhead transmission line connecting the two stations.
Minister El-Sherbini stressed the need for coordination with the Ministry of Electricity to secure a secondary power source for the Saint Catherine substation, ensuring uninterrupted power supply for the Great Transfiguration project. He also urged collaboration with the Ministry of Communications to install the necessary mobile towers for network coverage, in preparation for future visitors, and coordination with the Ministry of Environment for final touches on the project.
