Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, inspected the ongoing development, landscaping, and beautification works along the North 90th Street Axis and the Banks District in New Cairo City. The projects are being implemented by the New Cairo City Development Authority as part of a comprehensive plan to enhance the city’s urban appearance and improve residents’ quality of life.
The tour was accompanied by Engineer Ahmed Omran, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities, along with officials from the Ministry of Housing, the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), and the Head of the New Cairo City Development Authority. During the tour, the minister reviewed the progress of landscaping, planting, and green space development works along the North 90th Street Axis.
The project includes replacing and renewing selected existing vegetation, planting a diverse range of trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants in harmony with the avenue’s aesthetic character, as well as upgrading irrigation networks and maintaining existing green areas to ensure their sustainability and preserve the refined appearance of the developed areas.
The minister emphasized the importance of continuing urban landscaping works in accordance with the highest technical standards while adopting the latest modern landscaping and planting techniques. She noted that these efforts contribute to improving the city’s visual appeal and strengthening the distinctive identity of New Cairo.
The inspection tour also included monitoring the ongoing development works in the Banks District, located in New Cairo City’s central area. Officials from the city authority presented the progress of infrastructure upgrades, road improvements, and enhancements to the surrounding transportation corridors.
These projects aim to improve traffic flow, facilitate movement for residents and employees, and provide a modern business and investment environment that reflects the district’s prominent economic status. Engineer Randa El-Menshawy stated that the Banks District is one of the city’s most important financial and administrative centers and is currently witnessing rapid urban and investment growth.
This expansion is supported by the implementation of several new administrative, commercial, and service projects, which further enhance the area’s attractiveness to investors while improving the quality of services provided.
She explained that the development works are part of an integrated plan to upgrade the city center, improve quality of life, and create a more efficient business environment, reinforcing New Cairo’s position as one of Egypt’s leading development and investment destinations.
The ongoing works include projects to upgrade and improve the internal road network within the service center, provide additional parking areas, and complete the development of several major road corridors linking the city center with the First Settlement, Fifth Settlement, and major expressways.
These include the North 90th Street Axis and South 90th Street Axis, in addition to upgrading sidewalks, improving the public lighting system, enhancing the overall landscape, and beautifying the central medians.
At the conclusion of the tour, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy directed officials to continue intensive field monitoring of all ongoing works and to prepare a comprehensive traffic study for the area to improve traffic movement and achieve the required level of traffic flow.
