Engineer Randa El-Mashanawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the progress of several projects, in addition to development and efficiency enhancement works in a number of Upper Egypt’s new cities, including New Minya, New Qena, New Sohag, New Assiut, and New Beni Suef.
Continuing Periodic Operation and Maintenance Plans for Utilities to Sustain Services
The Minister of Housing stressed the importance of continuing the state’s efforts to improve the efficiency of utilities and services in the new Upper Egypt cities while maintaining periodic operation and maintenance plans to ensure the sustainability of services and improve operational efficiency. She also emphasized the necessity of implementing projects according to approved schedules and standard specifications.
In this regard, the minister reviewed a report on a field tour carried out by Engineer Mohamed El-Ezzouni and officials from the authority at Sewage Pumping Station No. (4), where they followed up on efficiency enhancement works at the station and evaluated the operational status of the sewage network. The tour also included inspecting equipment belonging to the maintenance company responsible for sewage lifting stations and networks.
Reviewing Development and Efficiency Enhancement Works on Main Axes in New Minya
The report also covered development and efficiency enhancement works on the main roads and axes in New Minya, in addition to maintenance works for green areas and irrigation networks. The works included the median strip on the road connecting to the Old Desert Road and the median at the entrance leading to the 840-Feddan area.
Following Up on Roads and Utilities Works in the 150-Feddan Project
The report further highlighted follow-up on roads and utilities works in the 150-Feddan project in preparation for handing over plots to reservers in New Minya. This included completing the implementation of a 300 mm water pipeline extending from the “Build Your House” area to provide water supply for the project, alongside maintenance and development works for the public lighting network.
The report also reviewed site improvement works for 77 residential buildings in Al Zahraa District within the city extension area, in addition to the sixth phase of the “Housing for All Egyptians” social housing project.
The New Regional Transportation Hub in New Qena
The report noted that the New Qena City Development Authority completed the implementation of the new regional transportation hub, which is considered one of the city’s largest urban and service development projects.
The hub is strategically located in the Second District opposite Qena University and the National University, spanning approximately 15 feddans and featuring an integrated range of modern facilities and services.
Progress of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project in New Qena
The report also reviewed the status of the wastewater treatment plant project in New Qena, which has a design capacity of around 15,500 cubic meters per day. The project aims to improve the quality of services provided to residents and strengthen the city’s sewage infrastructure.
The report also followed up on the construction of 28 residential buildings designated for low-income citizens under the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” in the Eastern Expansions area.
The report referred to a field tour conducted by Engineer Ayman Rashad to inspect maintenance and efficiency enhancement works on roads and main axes, including maintenance works on the ring road extending in front of the 214-feddan area and the upper-middle and family housing districts until its connection with the Western Desert Road.
The tour also included inspecting completion and linkage works on the second lane of the ring road, which is currently being prepared for paving.
Utilities and Development Works in New Assiut
In New Assiut, the report explained that utility works are underway in the 1,304-Feddan area within the northwestern expansions of the city. The works include infrastructure implementation in the middle-income housing area, which consists of five neighborhoods containing a total of 2,332 plots, in addition to the distinguished housing area, which includes 337 plots.
Inspecting Development Works at the Entrance of New Assiut from the Technological Zone
Engineer Ahmed Mahmoud Hassan also inspected development and efficiency enhancement works at the entrance of New Assiut from the Technological Zone side, as well as development works extending from the Technological Zone entrance to the North University area entrance.
The works include upgrading Universities Road, improving Al-Nasr Square located on the Assiut/Upper Egypt/Red Sea Road, and inspecting landscaping and development works at Al-Masalla Square situated at the beginning of the road linking Assiut and New Assiut. The inspection also covered road improvement works in the Universities District.
The New Assiut City Authority also continued implementing the electricity network project in the Most Distinguished Area within the Second District to serve land plots in the area. Development works have further expanded to several residential districts and internal roads, with ongoing works currently taking place in the 42-Building Area, the 10-Building Area, and along the Security Directorate Road.
Following Up on Road Development Works in New Beni Suef
The report also stated that Engineer Ahmed Abdel Gaber Abdel Lah conducted an inspection tour to monitor the completion of road development and maintenance works in the Third Residential District of New Beni Suef. This comes as part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure efficiency and enhance the level of services provided to residents.
