Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, minister of housing, utilities, and urban communities, followed up on the results of field campaigns carried out by the authorities of several new cities to address building violations, encroachments, and obstructions and to maintain urban discipline and the cities’ civilized appearance.
The minister of housing emphasized that the new city authorities will continue to carry out periodic campaigns to detect and address violations, encroachments, and obstructions at an early stage, in a manner that preserves the rights of the state and citizens and ensures compliance with urban plans and the designated land uses. She stressed that the return of informal practices or the obstruction of roads and public passageways will not be allowed.
In this context, the Third Sector Development Authority of the Northwestern Coast carried out a large-scale campaign in the eastern entrance area south of the Matrouh/Alexandria Road, resulting in the implementation of 9 removal decisions, including the removal of unauthorized structures and buildings in their early stages. The campaign was carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities to prevent the completion of unauthorized works and encroachments on state-owned land.
In El Shorouk City, one of the major campaigns resulted in the implementation of 6 closure and sealing decisions for shops at a commercial center, in addition to removing obstructions and encroachments and reopening passageways for residents and pedestrians. The authorities emphasized the continuation of campaigns to prevent the return of obstructions or the blocking of passageways.
In New Obour City, the city authority carried out a large-scale campaign within the Ahmed Orabi Association area, resulting in the removal of concrete, red-brick, and white-brick buildings illegally constructed on an area of approximately 8 feddans.
A violation was also detected and removed on a plot in Block 26027 in the Most Distinguished Area 2, involving the commencement of the construction of additional rooftop rooms. In addition, 8 shops operating without operating licenses in the El Horreya area were sealed, and their utility meters were removed.
In Hadayek October City, intensive campaigns continued to remove obstructions and address violations in vital areas. A waste transport vehicle operating without a permit was apprehended at the city entrance on the Middle Ring Road, while obstructions were removed in the Al Andalus area at the 247 Buildings and from the Wholesale Market bus station area.
The campaigns also included the removal of encroachments on passageways in the Zahret October area, Ebny Beitak 7, and the Hadayek Al Yasmeen area, Ebny Beitak 4, as well as the removal of an unauthorized fourth-floor room on a plot in Sector D and the removal of wooden formwork in the rear setback of the same sector. Demolition works being carried out without a license on a plot in Sector B in the Al Fayrouz area, Ebny Beitak 3, were also halted.
In the 6th of October City, the city authority continued its campaigns in the southern sector. Campaigns to remove obstructions resulted in the apprehension and impoundment of 6 violating vehicles used for waste sorting. Authorities also detected the commencement of construction of an unauthorized floor on a plot in the Small Investors area adjacent to the 49-Feddan area, and the works were halted while the materials used were confiscated.
In 10th of Ramadan City, the city authority carried out a large-scale campaign in the seventh and eighth districts, resulting in the implementation of 47 closure and sealing decisions and 202 removal decisions.
The campaigns included shops and commercial activities illegally established on residential plots as a result of changing their designated use from residential to commercial, in addition to removing encroachments and illegal occupation of agricultural areas, removing awnings, and reopening passageways and staircases that violated the applicable regulations.
In Badr City, the city authority intensified its campaigns to address violating vehicles and remove obstructions and encroachments at the commercial center located in the Al Qarnfel area of the Fifth District, contributing to restoring discipline, improving traffic flow, and preserving the city’s civilized appearance.
