Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, followed up on the implementation status of a number of projects and work files in Sadat and New Sphinx Cities to assess the progress of the works, monitor completion rates, and ensure the swift handling of any obstacles that may affect implementation.
In this context, the minister of housing received a report on the results of tours conducted by ministry officials at a number of projects in the two cities. Eng. Ahmed Omran, Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities, carried out extensive inspection tours of a number of utility projects currently under implementation in New Sphinx and Sadat Cities.
The tours covered drinking water and wastewater projects, utility networks, infrastructure works, and the coordination and upgrading of utility systems in the presence of officials from the city authorities, executing companies, and consultants supervising the projects.
The report indicated that Eng. Ahmed Omran began his tour in New Sphinx City, in the presence of Eng. Mohamed Abdel Aziz Amer, Head of the New Sphinx City Authority, by reviewing the implementation status of utility projects currently being carried out in the city, the current utilities plan in the First Sector, and Beit Al Watan projects.
The status of utility works for Beit Al Watan land plots and the targeted timetable for their completion were reviewed, along with completion rates, the main obstacles and challenges, and the mechanisms for addressing them.
The deputy minister of housing for utilities also inspected a number of project sites and followed up on utility implementation works in the urgent first phase, which include grading works and drinking water and wastewater networks. He stressed the need to intensify the pace of work and increase completion rates while adhering to technical specifications, quality standards, project schedules, and occupational safety and health procedures.
Eng. Ahmed Omran also inspected a number of projects in Sadat City, in the presence of Eng. Mohamed Adel Anwar, Head of the Sadat City Development Authority. He began the visit by holding a meeting at the city authority headquarters, during which the implementation status of ongoing infrastructure and utility projects, completion rates, and project schedules were reviewed, along with the main challenges and obstacles and mechanisms for overcoming them.
The meeting emphasized the continuation of close follow-up and intensified efforts to ensure the achievement of targeted implementation rates. The tour included an inspection of works to upgrade and improve the efficiency of the wastewater treatment system, as well as works to enhance and support the Tree Forest wastewater pumping station with two additional pumps and the installation of a 1.25 MVA electrical transformer.
The Deputy Minister of Housing also inspected the new drinking water treatment plant project in Sadat City, which has a targeted total capacity of 350,000 cubic meters per day. The first phase is currently being implemented with a capacity of 87,500 cubic meters per day. In this regard, directives were issued to prioritize facilities involving major electromechanical works and intensify work rates to accelerate supply and installation activities.
The Deputy Minister of Housing for Utilities concluded his tour of Sadat City by inspecting the implementation works of two raw water pipelines with a diameter of 1,500 mm and a total length of 40 kilometers, extending from the raw water pumping station currently being implemented on the El-Nasery Rayah Canal to the surface water treatment plant in Sadat City.
The project aims to support the surface water treatment plant with additional quantities of raw water and increase its production capacity to meet current and future needs and serve industrial and investment development areas in the city.
As part of the continuous follow-up of various development files in Sadat City, the report noted that Eng. Mohamed Adel Anwar, Head of the Sadat City Development Authority, and officials from the authority conducted field tours at a number of sites and projects.
The tours included the implementation of natural gas networks in Residential Areas 34 and 36, while preparations are underway to begin natural gas connection works in Residential Areas 14 and 23. They also followed up on maintenance works for a water well in Al-Nour District to address the problem of low drinking water pressure and improve and stabilize the service.
Regarding roads, the head of the city authority followed up on the development and upgrading of the Central Axis, extending from the Gamal Abdel Nasser Axis to Babylon Square, with a total length of approximately 1,600 meters.
The works also include the construction of the square in front of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels and the implementation of car parking areas, in addition to replacement, renewal, and upgrading works for utility networks in the Second Residential Area.
The follow-up also extended to internal roads in residential areas, the upgrading of roads in the Sixth and Seventh Industrial Zones, landscaping and site coordination works, and the improvement of irrigation networks.
These works include the green area in front of the Sadat City University Hotel, in addition to the development and upgrading of the island on the Regional Road and intensified cleaning and waste removal activities in Al-Zaytoun District and various residential and industrial areas.
Officials from the Sadat City Authority also followed up on the implementation of the Green Housing Project, which includes 82 residential buildings comprising a total of 1,968 units in Al-Firdous District. The implementation status and completion rates at the work sites were reviewed, along with the construction of the buildings and works associated with the project.
In conclusion, Eng. Randa El-Menshawy emphasized that the results of these tours reflect the importance of direct field follow-up of utility and housing projects, as it is the primary means of assessing actual implementation rates, intervening quickly to remove obstacles, and ensuring adherence to project schedules and technical specifications.
The minister of housing stressed the continuation of periodic follow-up of projects in New Sphinx and Sadat Cities, emphasizing the need for full coordination between city authorities, executing companies, and consultants; increasing work rates; and completing projects according to their schedules. This supports urban, industrial, and investment development plans and contributes to improving the level of services.
