Engineer Randa El Minshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, stated that ongoing development and road and utilities efficiency enhancement works are part of a comprehensive plan aimed at improving the quality of services provided to residents and visitors of new cities. The plan also focuses on upgrading main roads and squares to reflect the scale of urban development and progress taking place across various sectors.
This came during the minister’s follow-up on ongoing development and efficiency improvement works covering roads, utilities, lighting, and green spaces in several new cities, including New Alamein, Hadayek October, New Beni Suef, Hadayek 10th of Ramadan, El Shorouk, New Obour, New Damietta, New Cairo, and Sheikh Zayed City.
El Minshawy emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts, adhering to the highest standards of quality and precision in implementation, and ensuring the rapid completion of projects within the designated timelines.
The minister also received a report on the development and upgrading of roads, main axes, and squares in New Alamein City, as part of preparations for the summer season and to present the city in a modern and aesthetically refined appearance.
The works included traffic planning measures, upgrading directional signage, painting and beautification activities, and improving the overall visual appearance. In addition, the technical condition of roads and main axes was reviewed to support smoother traffic flow and facilitate mobility within the city.
In Hadayek October, the city authority continued executing its plan to strengthen the transportation system and promote environmental sustainability, alongside expanding cleaning operations and waste removal across various districts and main axes.
Engineer Yasser Abdel Halim, head of the City Authority, announced the approval of allocating 100 service vehicles, each with a capacity of 14 passengers, to support public transportation and improve mobility services across the city.
He also confirmed the commencement of supplying the irrigation network of the “Sakan Misr Downtown” project with triple-treated water, contributing to water conservation and optimal resource utilization.
Furthermore, extensive cleaning and waste removal campaigns were carried out across multiple areas, including waste removal in the Andalus area (formerly 247 Buildings) and clearing sidewalks and surrounding streets. These efforts also included removing accumulated waste along both sides of the Middle Ring Road using cranes and heavy equipment.
In New Beni Suef, the city development authority continued maintenance and efficiency improvement works for roads and main axes, including monitoring works in the city center, as well as upgrading the eastern entrance and the University Axis in the First Residential District.
In Hadayek 10th of Ramadan, development and urban coordination works continued across several key areas. These included completing sidewalks and installing interlock paving in the central island in front of Al Rabie District (26), as well as cleaning and waste removal operations at the city’s main entrance in Al Fayrouz District (28), Al Zohour District (29), Al Qornfol District (30), and the separating axes between Al Yasmeen District (31) and Al Rayhan District (33), maintaining the city’s clean and civilized appearance.
The works also included landscaping and green space development in Al Zohour District (29) and the separating island between Al Lotus District (27) and Al Fayrouz District (28), in addition to planting palm trees in Al Sanabel District (21), as part of efforts to expand green areas and enhance the visual landscape.
In New Damietta, Engineer Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud, Head of the City Authority, carried out an extensive inspection tour to follow up on ongoing development works across various districts.
The tour included monitoring the enhancement and planting of green islands and landscaped areas with flowers and plants, particularly in youth housing areas in the Fourth Neighborhood of the Fourth District and the industrial zone, in addition to reviewing road maintenance works on key axes.
In El Shorouk City, the authority implemented lighting efficiency improvement works in Family Housing Areas 1 and 2, which included comprehensive maintenance of lighting poles, replacement of damaged units with modern lighting systems, and finishing works for pole coverings.
Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Zakaria, head of the City Authority, confirmed the continuation of road development, beautification, and traffic planning works across the city within an integrated plan aimed at improving street efficiency and enhancing the city’s urban image.
He added that the coming period will include the preparation and activation of dedicated bicycle lanes and walking paths to support sports activities, encourage physical exercise, and promote a healthy and safe urban environment.
In New Obour City, Engineer Mahmoud Mourad, Head of the City Authority, followed up on comprehensive development works in Central Park, one of the city’s main recreational destinations.
He also reviewed the final stages of beautification and development works, including modern seating areas designed with contemporary styles and high-quality materials, as well as pergolas, shaded areas, and pedestrian and bicycle pathways implemented according to the latest technical standards.
In the roads and infrastructure sector, he also monitored road efficiency improvement works and internal axes in several areas, including crushed stone layers on the service lane of Road R13 and interlock paving on Road L55 and the service lane of Road R2.
These works aim to improve traffic flow and infrastructure efficiency, alongside periodic maintenance of green spaces in Al Nozha and Distinguished Housing areas, beautification efforts, and supplying flowers and ground cover plants in Districts 37 and 16.
Additional works included cleaning in the 14th District in the Al Yaqout area, maintenance of sewage manholes and rain drainage systems in the Al Karama District and the “Sakan Misr” project, as well as maintenance of the 10,000-cubic-meter storage tank.
In New Cairo City, the authority continued development, maintenance, landscaping, cleaning, and encroachment removal works, alongside ongoing monitoring of road and infrastructure projects.
In the First Settlement, works included landscaping and maintenance in the Fourth and Double Yasmeen neighborhoods; mowing grass and maintaining green areas in Banafseg zones 7 to 12; trimming trees and palm trees; and painting entrances along Mostafa Kamel Axis from 90 Street and Taha Hussein Axis.
In the Fifth Settlement, cleaning and green space maintenance continued in Narges areas 4, 7, and 8, along with landscaping in the Southern Investors area. Waste removal was carried out from the island separating Narges 1 and Narges 2, in addition to shrub trimming and irrigation works on the central island of North 90 Street.
In the Third Settlement, landscaping and beautification works continued, including planting green spaces, irrigation, grass trimming, and maintenance as part of ongoing efforts to enhance environmental quality and urban appearance.
As part of improving road efficiency and traffic flow, asphalt works continued on Road I1 in the Beit Al Watan area in the eastern extension of the city, serving neighborhoods 1, 2, 3, and 4, facilitating movement and improving the road network.
Cleaning and waste removal operations also continued across multiple axes and neighborhoods, including the Sadat Bridge ramp near Lulu Market and Zakir Hussein Axis, as well as underpasses under the Ring Road, Rehab Bridge, and U-turns on Suez Road, in addition to service areas, passageways, central islands, and entrances in Yasmeen and Youth Square areas.
In Sheikh Zayed City, the authority continued implementing development and efficiency improvement works on roads, main axes, and residential neighborhoods to ensure smoother traffic flow, upgrade infrastructure, and enhance service delivery to citizens.
The works included upgrading sidewalks and pedestrian paths, creating vertical parking spaces in front of residential buildings (side parks) to reduce congestion, as well as road marking and speed bump painting on Al Bostan Axis, the Central Axis (Youth Axis), and in the Third, Fifth, and Thirteenth Districts, as well as Zayed Heights (formerly Beit Al Watan).
The authority confirmed that the development plan will continue to be implemented sequentially across additional areas during the coming period.
