On the sidelines of her participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, hosted in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku under the theme “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities” from May 17 to 22, 2026, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with Adib Ben Ibrahim, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in Charge of Housing, to discuss opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of housing and sustainable urban development.
At the start of the meeting, Engineer Randa El-Menshawy highlighted the longstanding historical and fraternal ties between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Morocco, noting the shared commitment of the political leadership in both sisterly nations to advancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, particularly in sustainable urban development, housing, infrastructure, and the exchange of expertise and successful experiences.
The Minister of Housing reviewed Egypt’s leading experiences in implementing social housing projects, redeveloping unsafe areas, and establishing new smart cities, stressing that Egypt has witnessed significant progress in the housing and urban development sector in recent years, which has helped provide suitable housing opportunities for citizens.
Engineer Randa El-Menshawy further emphasized the Egyptian Ministry of Housing’s readiness to cooperate closely with the Moroccan side and share Egypt’s distinguished expertise in social housing, urban planning, and infrastructure project implementation in support of sustainable development efforts in both sisterly countries.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in Charge of Housing expressed his admiration for Egypt’s urban development experience, commending the remarkable accomplishments achieved in the housing and urban development sector.
He also underscored Morocco’s interest in strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise with the Egyptian Ministry of Housing in a way that serves the common interests of both sisterly nations.
At the end of the meeting, both sides reiterated their commitment to deepening joint cooperation during the coming period in a manner that supports sustainable urban development and promotes the exchange of successful experiences and expertise between the two countries.
