Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting yesterday evening with Major General Nasser Fawzy, Head of the National Authority for Planning the Use of State Lands, to review the development progress of the North-West Coast. The meeting was attended by officials from both the Ministry of Housing and the National Authority.
At the start of the meeting, Minister El-Sherbiny expressed his pleasure in having the Head of the National Authority present at the Ministry to discuss joint work, including the development of the North-West Coast. This initiative aligns with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding maximizing the use of underutilized state land and accelerating its development.
The meeting addressed how to exploit areas that have yet to be developed, utilizing land inventory studies that have already been prepared. The discussion also covered the developmental sectors in the North-West Coast. El-Sherbiny emphasized that the success of the ongoing developmental projects was primarily due to efforts that prioritized the interests of the local population, ensuring appropriate compensation and creating a plan that benefits both the residents and the state.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed the water treatment plants currently under construction and those planned for the region, as well as the roads, development sectors, and proposed projects along the North-West Coast (Mersa Matruh / Selum Plateau). Plans include the establishment of a range of developmental projects in each sector, featuring logistics zones, agricultural projects, industrial areas, commercial zones, ports, transportation corridors, and power stations. The meeting also discussed the Siwa Oasis area in Matruh, along with proposals for developing eight advanced Bedouin communities south of the coastal road from Ras El-Hikma to Selum.
In conclusion, Minister El-Sherbiny directed the team to study all existing cases in the area, assess exploitable spaces, and compile a list of available land, including areas under negotiation. He also instructed them to evaluate the progress of ongoing projects and contractors, ensuring that only serious entities remain involved. He requested that results be submitted to him biweekly.
