Minister of Housing Concludes His Tour Today by Following Up on the Progress of the Fustat Hills Gardens Project

After a tour that included several cities in West Cairo, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, concluded his field visit by inspecting the progress of the “Fustat Hills Gardens” project in the Old Cairo district of Cairo Governorate. The project is located adjacent to major historical landmarks such as the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Ain Al-Sira Lake, the Religious Complex, and Amr Ibn Al-As Mosque. The minister was accompanied during the tour by the head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, officials from the Ministry of Housing, and representatives of the executing companies.

The tour included a visit to the investment zone and the arena project. The investment zone covers an area of 131,000 square meters overlooking Ain Al-Hayat Lake and includes a diverse range of services such as 12 restaurants, 4 shopping malls, and 4 car parks. It also features a dedicated area for official ceremonies that includes a Roman theater and a water fountain, in addition to other service facilities including lakes and landscaped areas.

The minister also followed up on the progress in the “Hills Zone,” which is divided into three hills of varying elevations connected by the water corridor known as “the River.” The project provides breathtaking views extending from the hilltops to Salah El-Din Citadel and the Pyramids. These include:

  • Al-Qasaba Hill, which covers 13,000 square meters and features a tourist hotel, service facilities, an artificial lake, and terraces.

  • Excavation Hill, spanning 47 feddans, where the remains of ancient Fustat city are being uncovered to transform the area into an archaeological, cultural, and touristic attraction. It will showcase the architectural remnants of the city and their restoration, linked to a raised walkway that provides an integrated view of the entire site.

  • Heritage Gardens Hill, which includes seating areas, restaurants, and various pathways.

The minister also inspected the Market Zone, designed to promote tourism and support the economy by reviving traditional and handicraft industries such as glasswork, ceramics, wax, and weaving. Covering 60,000 square meters, the market area is being developed in three phases and will include 19 commercial shops, parking areas, an artificial lake, green spaces, and a three-star hotel.

Concluding the inspection tour, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to accelerate the implementation of the project according to the highest standards, with special attention to landscaping and the installation of clear signage to enhance the visitor experience.
