Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, minister of housing, utilities, and urban communities, has arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, ahead of her participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place from May 17 to 22, 2026, under the theme “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.” Upon arrival, she was welcomed by Ambassador Hossam El-Din Reda, Egypt’s ambassador to Azerbaijan.
Engineer Randa El-Menshawy noted that Egypt’s involvement in the World Urban Forum reflects the state’s commitment to maintaining an active presence in international platforms focused on sustainable urban development issues.
She highlighted that Egypt’s experience in establishing new and smart cities serves as a comprehensive development model that embodies the state’s vision of enhancing quality of life, improving service delivery, and creating modern, sustainable urban communities.
The Minister of Housing is set to take part in several high-level sessions and events, alongside holding bilateral meetings with various ministers, officials, and representatives of international organizations to explore opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of expertise in housing and sustainable urban development.
She will also present Egypt’s experience in developing new and smart cities, as well as in implementing housing and infrastructure projects.
