Engineer Randa El Menshawy, minister of housing, utilities, and urban communities, announced the energization of the Eastern Expansions electricity substation in 6th of October City, alongside the continued implementation of road and infrastructure development projects and the intensification of field campaigns to remove encroachments, violations, and illegal building activities across various sectors of the city.
This comes as part of the Ministry of Housing’s strategy to enhance the efficiency of basic infrastructure and support sustainable urban development. Engineer Randa El Menshawy emphasized that the Eastern Expansions substation represents a major addition to strengthening the electricity supply system in 6th of October City.
The project will increase the capacity and operational efficiency of the electrical network, ensuring that the growing demand for electricity is met while supporting the city’s urban and industrial expansion plans. The minister explained that the project is part of the state’s strategy to provide advanced and sustainable infrastructure that enhances the attractiveness of new cities for investment and aligns with the comprehensive development goals of the New Republic.
The minister of housing added that the substation has a capacity of 375 MVA and operates at voltage levels of 220/22/22 kV. It consists of three transformers, each with a capacity of 125 MVA, ensuring a stable and sustainable electricity supply.
The substation will serve several national and development projects in 6th of October City while reducing loads on Sheikh Zayed Substations (1 and 2) and the existing 6th of October Substation, positively improving the quality of services provided to residents and investors.
In the same context and in line with the directives of the minister of housing, the 6th of October City Development Authority, headed by Engineer Nader Zaafar, continues implementing a comprehensive work plan aimed at upgrading the road network, maintaining utilities, and improving infrastructure efficiency, alongside intensified inspection campaigns to remove encroachments and violations and address all forms of illegal activities.
The ongoing works include upgrading roads and major traffic corridors, removing waste, completing maintenance on the Middle Ring Road, continuing development of the central axis passing through the monorail project, maintaining roads in the Eastern Expansions area, repairing sidewalks along Gamal Abdel Nasser Road and the Northern Road, and installing traffic warning signs to enhance road safety and improve the efficiency of the city’s transportation network.
Authority officials also monitored development works on the Boulevard Axis, where utility infrastructure has been completed and preparations have begun for road construction works. They emphasized the importance of overcoming any obstacles and adhering to the approved implementation schedule to achieve the highest quality standards, improve traffic flow, and better serve the residential areas overlooking the axis.
As part of efforts to maintain order and preserve the city’s urban appearance, the City Authority continued carrying out intensive campaigns across various sectors, including the southern and eastern sectors as well as the northern and western sectors, in coordination with the Utilities Police and the Construction Police.
The campaigns resulted in the removal of numerous encroachments and illegal occupations, the clearance of unauthorized sorting and collection points, the confiscation of several violating carts and equipment used in unlicensed activities, the removal of illegal kiosks, shacks, and warehouses, and the implementation of the necessary legal measures against violators.
The campaigns also included removing encroachments from major roads, around commercial establishments, and within industrial zones, contributing to restoring order and improving traffic flow. At the same time, utility maintenance works continued, including the commencement of maintenance on the roofs and covers of utility chambers in Area 1B within the 2,000-Plots District in the Northern Sector, ensuring the efficiency of utility networks and the sustainability of services.
To address building violations, the City Authority, in coordination with the relevant authorities, implemented a demolition decision against an illegal building violation in the West Sumed District. The violation involved unauthorized expansion of rooftop room areas in breach of approved building regulations. The illegal additions were completely removed, and the necessary legal procedures were taken against the violators.
