Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and Major General Hesham Abu El-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, concluded their inspection tour in New Assiut City. The visit included the drinking water treatment plant, road and axis development works, the tourist promenade, as well as monitoring the implementation of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians.” Officials from the ministry and the governorate participated in the tour, accompanied by the city authority.

Inspection of the Drinking Water Treatment Plant

The tour began with a visit to the drinking water treatment plant in New Assiut City, considered one of the most vital infrastructure projects to meet the current and future needs of the city for clean water. The plant has a design capacity of 52,000 cubic meters per day, while it currently operates at an actual capacity of 35,000 cubic meters per day, contributing to the provision of safe and clean drinking water for residents of the city and surrounding areas.

The visit included an inspection of the plant facilities such as the filters building, pumping stations, and the laboratory. In this context, the Minister emphasized the need to adhere to the highest standards of operation and maintenance while continuously improving the quality of the produced water.

Tour of the Tourist Promenade Project

The Minister and Governor then moved to inspect the tourist promenade project in the city, which is considered one of the most prominent urban coordination and recreational projects. The promenade stretches over 2 kilometers and serves as a natural outlet for residents, providing space for various activities. The project includes dedicated lanes for walking, jogging, and cycling, along with rest areas, relaxation spots, and wide green areas that add beauty and vitality to the site, in addition to designated parking spaces.

Follow-up on the “Housing for All Egyptians – Phase Six” Project

The tour also included monitoring the progress of the “Housing for All Egyptians – Phase Six” project, which comprises nine residential buildings offering 216 fully finished housing units. The Minister reviewed the public utility works and site coordination, and visited one of the residential units to inspect the level of interior finishing prior to handover to beneficiaries.

During the tour, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny met with a number of citizens, listened to their suggestions and requests, and directed the head of the city authority to maintain communication with them and explore ways to meet their needs within regulatory frameworks.

Review of Road and Axis Development Works

The tour concluded with a review of the ongoing works to develop the main axes and roads in New Assiut City, from the city entrance to the expansion area, including the roads leading to the social housing buildings. The Minister stressed the importance of accelerating progress in developing green areas, enhancing the cleanliness system, and maintaining roads to improve the overall appearance of the city and present it in a civilized manner.
