Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced that approximately 18,000 requests for land legalization have been submitted across all new cities. Of these, 5,550 requests have been resolved, while nearly 10,000 requests were rejected following site inspections.

During a session of the Senate, the Minister emphasized that the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) operates under detailed plans and construction regulations that safeguard state properties and prevent illegal land occupation.

Regarding the timeframe for receiving land legalization applications, the Minister stated that the six-month period is sufficient to process existing cases effectively, adding: “Our goal is to draw a clear line for handling current situations.”

He also highlighted that the proposed law on the management of state properties aims to preserve national resources. Lands that remain unutilized under illegal occupation will be reclaimed by the state.

The Minister further clarified that there is no conflict between the law for settling building violations and the new draft law on managing state-owned properties.
